RW - Professional Detachment

RW = Ramble Warning
In my first years of therapy, I was one those patients who was often handed off because I kept forming delusional attachments with my therapists. The label I bought for my particular rendition of that is, "Attachment Disorder." I learned all my social skills in kiddie whorehouses. Attachment disorder now strikes me as a rather natural side effect for that. I still, these many years later, accept the value of professional detachment far more than I understand it. All that remains a snotty knot for me.
In recent days(?) I have found that confusion bubbling up as I have continued the greiving process for my in-laws. The MIL died three years before the FIL but nobody really felt like they had permission to grieve the MIL until her husband passed and his ? employees ? caregivers ? step-family ? were dismissed. Here in the closing stages of their estate, we have taken to calling the 2 women who came on board during the MIL's hospice care, "The Sugar Mamas." They sure did help themselves to allot of sugar after the MIL passed. They are shoe-ins for exploitation charges, should we choose to pursue it. I believe the financial damage they dealt is downright pale next to the mess they made in the family structure.
It remains a messy weave, full of holes, but this morning finds me wondering if I am viewing "professional detachment" through a new set of proverbial glasses. Sorting. . . Thoughts, experience and reality checks welcome.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
