I said some things today in counseling that I’ve never said out loud. They were real before but they’re in my face now. I’m not sure I can look at my Dad. I’m not sure I can look at anyone. I thought I knew what had happened. I did. I remember enough to know why I have ptsd but my eyes are being opened to so many awful things that I normalized. I learned to minimize what my brother did to me because they minimized it. But I normalized their issues.
Its not okay. But they’re standup citizens, highly respected, responsible, financially helpful, never let us go without. They seem like decent people but the things I’m learning are wrong, and the things I’m remembering are things decent people don’t do. I’m not okay tonight.

Then they got caught committing fraud. The church board there, their missions board in the USA, and the government of the country they lived in all fired them and deported them very publicly.
Suddenly, all I'd been saying and doubting was validated as true about these "role model leaders." My lesson from that? Believe yourself and believe in yourself. Lots of support to you today for that, Marah.
