Return of the nightmares

I had nightmares about him again. In the nightmare i was dating him again and he was doing the exact same things he used to. I felt every emotion i went through when i was with him. I woke up and realized i'm having these nightmares because tomorrow is his birthday. I've had sudden flashbacks all day today and it's just exhaused me mentally. I'll be fine. Honestly don't really wanna post this but it usually helps me feel better later on...

It may be more than because his birthday is coming. Nightmare or flashback just reassure yourself it's not real. I'd keep myself occupied tomorrow. Don't give the flashbacks a chance to race through your head. I know you don't want to feel those feelings again. If you keep having nightmares go to the Dr. and get a script for Prazosin. It helps tremendously with the nightmares. I didn't realize how bad the nightmares were till I tried the Prazosin. Treat yourself to something special tomorrow. You're worth it. Gental support and hugs.

Gentlest supportive hugs. I understand about those triggers and nightmares exhausting someone. The US election has (for reasons I won't go into) had me triggered and nightmare-ing like crazy. It's fatiguing. Puma purrs to you.

Zoe i've tried prazosin but it doesnt work for me. I mean it makes me sleep really hard but when i wake up i feel panicky and anxious all day :/ i've tried other similar meds but none of them helped :/ but i am keeping myself occupied tomorrow thank you for the help though <3

Leo the election has me really nervous and panicky as well as the PTSD stuff so it's one rough day but i'm hoping your nightmares stop soon and that you will be able to relax soon :) thank you beautiful puma

It makes sense that this is happening around his birthday-that can be really triggering. I'm glad you are reaching out here, I find that the number one thing that helps me when I get triggered is to just talk about it. Keep talking about it, I hope you do decide to post here tomorrow and let us know how you are doing. Have you thought about what you're going to do tomorrow? Maybe it'd help to have a plan for tomorrow-don't plan on anything too stressing, but just think of some good things to do, things you enjoy, to keep yourself distracted. That way, if you do get triggered, you are doing something you like and you can use it as a means to relaxing yourself. Sending you a hug to help you feel better!!!

I could wish you weren't having the nightmare, but since you are stuck with it, I am glad you felt safe to share about it here, WNB. I, too, find that sharing about it helps take the edge of the after-effects.
