I am on the back porch enjoying the weather and time with my husband when his friend calls. His friend used to be in healthcare and he genuinely asked how I was doing having working in nursing homes for the last year. My husband described all my heart ships with Covid: patient death toll, over worked, high census, low supplies... I am feeling everything right now.
Now I am tearing up and my husband is apologizing (without knowing I was even feeling anything). I know it is better to talk about it and feel it and work though it, but it hurts

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
First and foremost, thank you for your work. I know a simple thank you doesn't even begin to cover my gratitude, but sometimes there just isn't any right words to express the depth of things. I'm no expert, but I imagine you need some time? Did you let your husband know you prefer not to talk about these things for now?
I've been working with socially marginalized children (foster kids, et al) who have spent a substantial percentage of their lives within this chaos. I'm not sure Corona PTSD will be well defined until they have voice enough to tell **their** stories.
It has been a rough ride for all, whatever their "At Risk" classification, with no end in sight. Prayers ongoing. . .
I got my first vaccination for Covid today, and the nurse who gave me the shot stopped halfway through, excused herself, and had to "take a minute". B/c it's just so constant, too much, for her to keep doing this ----- then a minute later, she tried to smile and say it's just "been a hard year". When she's not giving shots as a volunteer? She's on the respiratory ICU.
You're not alone, is the short version. HUGS
