The school work week ended well, and I'm on Fall Break now to mend for a couple of days and rest up. This afternoon, though, one of my former students in my death and dying class at the community college called me. Her 75 year old father in law was in the hospital across the street dying, and she wanted me to be with the family. I spent the afternoon there with them by his bedside. Nice people, and they seemed to draw some comfort. It was tiring, but I was glad to be called to do something for them like that even with all of my problems with PTSD every day.
I know we have our problems--boy, I have flashbacks every day. Every day something triggers me. But we still have something to offer sometimes, too. It's good to know, because often I'm just thinking I'm only keeping myself afloat. Sometimes, it's more than that, too.
I'm just posting it because it was a blessing to me after a rough week where I got a lot of support here. I had a problem at work that triggered my PTSD and kept my up half of the night Tuesday. But the support I got here settled me down. Then I got to pass on some support beyond here. It's a chain.

I know you have been struggling and with flashbacks everyday and not sleeping well, it certainly explains why you have been struggling. (((hugs))) as you wade through this to the clearing on the other side.
Hang in there
Enjoy the break, and yes, it does make a person stop, doesn't it? What we do that is helping when we think we're just getting by....
Big hugs and gentle purrs,
Leo
Hope you invest in some healing rest during your break.
Have a good weekend. I'm off to see the game tomorrow and unwind.
I'm spending the night in a hotel room before going to the game tomorrow to be shallow and holler about sports for an afternoon. I got a little triggered when I checked in the hotel. Flashback-ish. Just tired, I guess.
Looking to unwind tomorrow rooting for the home team and thinking of shallow things like the score of the game, good distractions like that.
Hope everybody else has a restoring SUnday tomorrow, too.
You are right, it does seem like sometimes we are just keeping our self afloat..but when we have something to offer it feels good.
