It's been over 6 years since I was raped and it's hard to not have the nightmares, think everyone is against me, it's all my fault, negative mindset, never feeling safe, and anxiety attacks from it. I try to manage, but the event just replays in my mind and never let's me ahve a break from it.

Hi Tinker. Welcome aboard this lifeboat. Traumas imprint themselves into our brains, which is the replay that happens. Over time, with therapy and building a toolkit, they lose their power. We kind of do a typeover. In this group, we give and get support, and many replies share tools that have helped. Some may work for you, others may not. Reading replies helped me add some tools. Yes, PTSD does take away our safety. Many of us still deal with hypervigilance and a startle reflex. I have accepted those will likely never go away. On the upside, flashbacks now rarely occur. Anxiety is a kissing cousin to PTSD. I'm on several sites here for different issues, as are many. PTSD does like companions. Here, we are on your side. Supportive and comforting hugs.
