PTSD after motorcycle accident.

Long story short. Another rider went left of center and hit me head on. I was life flighted to a trauma hospital and have been thru multiple surgeries for my left side. My experience has been one of support and blessings along the entire process of accepting my limitations now. However, I've found that a year after this accident happened, I have anger issues I'm not sure how to address. I'm a big guy, but a softy.. and not used to the frustration and anger I feel regarding my situation. In short, I have no one to be mad at, so find it hard to direct my anger in any specific direction Usual tactics of working out, or lifting weights was a good to for me... but is not possible due to physical limitations I have now. I try very hard to keep my emotions in check, however I am aware that this anger slips out when I get frustrated with phone calls and even when working with helpful family members. Hyper vigilance has been present since the first day, and I'm aware of my emotions... just this anger thing confuses me. I cant fault the man who hit me, it was a simple error on his part. I can't be mad at anyone.. or anything.... I'm just upset with the situation and my physical limitations and not sure how to vent it out. There is so much more to this story.. but what I'm looking for is a friendly person who has dealt with trauma from an accident, and can help me process a new way of thinking. I'll leave this here... and see what develops. Thanks for reading. :)

I have more experience than I care to admit on channeling anger. I am hyper-active enough that I suspect I would have had that problem even without the childhood dysfunctions which created my PTSD. A hyper metabolism creates its own set of frustrations, etc. Add in the cPTSD and? ? ? Ouchy Papa. My anger random targets like a bad girl.
I, too, find that new limitations from aging have robbed me of some of my most effective anger channels, but the good news is that my metabolism has slowed down, as well. At 66, I finally have the energy of a normal teenager.
I, too, am on the hunt for new anger channels. Maybe we can find them together.
So, or no, welcome aboard. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
How'd I handle it? I let myself be angry. The situation is crappy, I hate being limited and losing out on some life stuff, and.... sometimes I still get really angry. It's the helplessness to change it, in my case. All i can blame in my case? Gravity. yeah. How do I get angry at *gravity*?!?!
So I remind myself what I learned ----- my anger is my fear at the helplessness that comes with being partly disabled now. It's scary. Fear becoems anger, with me. I had PTSD before the accident in 2011, so that just added all new levels for me. (Yay?)
IMHO? You're getting the anger now b/c you're healing enough physically and in other ways for the anger to show up, if that makes sense. Which it may not. Our bodies/minds are weird. We can often be fine in times of stress, but as the stressors ease, *then* the reactions can hit.
At any rate, that's my take. Which isn't much. I have to keep a cane, but I can't use it b/c I broke the arm on the side I need the cane for, and I just get so frustrated at being UNable. Not even DISabled, just UNable.
Apologies for ramble. Welcome to DSPTSD:-) I hope you find healing!
I can understand how you say you're still upset with the situation. I still am with mine, too. The guy who threw the bomb locked eyes with me before throwing it, so he saw me and knew better than to try to hurt a kid and his family like that. It sucks.
Leo, your comment about fear is spot on... and something I will ponder as I think you are def on to something and I can relate. Hope this note finds you all doing well.
I am so sorry for what you've been through and all that you've been suffering but I am am so glad that you've found us
Are you able to get into any trauma therapy?..... Big hug.....xo
Finding one that talked about both plus my trauma from being sexually assaulted as a boy was tough. But it happened, so if I can find the right fit for me, I hope you can find the right fit for you, too.
