My mother is a worrier. MAJOR worrier. She inherited it from her mother, and I am trying to take a pass on that particular gift of my lineage.
She's in Tennessee right now, on vacation. She just called me because she saw online that someone disappeared in our area and felt the need to tell me to not open the door to strangers.
I'm 41. We get people at the door maybe once every three months and I never open the door to anyone unless Fahnz is home with me.
I am fighting the urge to go stress eat because her anxiety and need to tell me how to take care of myself triggers me big time. This time I just said "Okay" and went back about my business. But damn if that box of granola bars ain't calling my name...

I was listening to George Birge radio on Pandora in my car yesterday. It sounded good but the lyrics are so limited with country music. I just couldn't hear another song about whiskey. Now I'm listening to Tori Amos. She is my female Elton John. I love their lyrics!

When i was in the ER February 16th 2025, i was being admitted to ICU where i was for 3 weeks, then had to relearn to walk for 3 weeks in another hospital rehab floor, the nurse told me something that made me feel for over 18 months now that i was finally *safe*. She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

I understand only too well.
In some situations, some of us can really be like tuning forks -- the vibration (anxiety) of another -- particularly a close family member -- can just start us up and humming.
I wish you peace, health, and strength.
Crawling out of the gene pool has been huge for me. I'd get out entirely if the darn DNA wasn't attached.
Gentle support!
Sigh. . .
I focus on accepting that these joys are mine, whether I want them, or not and looking for ways to channel them more effectively than that next cigarette. . . That next frantic flight from whatever is evering my whats this week. . . Letting my grown sons know they can't possibly survive without me. . . Shooting the neighbor's security lights with ice water. . . May I never reach the kiddie porn shows my parents channeled theirs in to. . .
Gentle support while you ride the wave, Fahnette. Congrats on catching it before you were driving to the store for the health twinkies which might have come after the granola bars. . . then ... then... then...
