He is on the starter dose of lithium...and it seems to not be causing any problems. It is ALSO making the inside of his head very, very quiet. No suicidality, an abundance of calmness and cheerfulness.
We've got high hopes.
...in other news, this will sound a bit paranoid. In fact, it might actually BE paranoid... But we think his long-time psychiatry consultant is not incompetent, she is actually deliberately malignant.
He's filed a transfer request, a complaint...and want to do more...you see...
We suspect that she likes to deliberately use medication and psychological tactics to get her patients to self-destruct.
Proving this beyond a reasonable doubt in multiple cases is going to be very difficult though. It will entail getting the service of forensic psychiatrists to crawl through case files.
But he and I want to get a class action lawsuit rolling if we can...
When Mr C and I first met online, mr C told me he could not get better...I asked him why he thought this...
Apparently, this psychiatrist had told him that nothing more could be done for him, he was hopeless.
She then discharged him when he was still acutely suicidal.
This is how Mr Crazypants wound up addicted to heroin.
He could think of no other thing to keep him alive.
I just thought she was incompetent at first...but she also cold-turkeyed him off of benzodiazepines at one point, though that's medically dangerous. She canceled his treatment team, no reason given, just canceled them, leaving him with no support.
Last hospital trip she refused to change his meds AT ALL.
This time in the hospital she told him he does not have depression and PTSD. he has a character disorder.
This is because he " should have gotten over" his childhood sexual abuse trauma, his war trauma, his trauma from losing over 40 people ( friends and family), according to this psychiatrist...WTF???
Is she that dense or is she trying to make him feel like his illness is his fault? I mean..at what point do you suspect someone has to be deliberately playing head games with vulnerable people?
Mr C has talked to other patients of hers, and it seems she finds a working med cocktail, then pulls them off the working meds abruptly with no explanation...or gives them meds that make them worse, then sections the patients when the meds make them explode.
All while treating the patients she sees with contempt.
I can't thonk of a much more vulnerable population for a malignant psychopath to play with than MI people...the MI people are cognitively impaired, and if they do figure it out, who will believe them?
Another patient of this psychiatrist suicided last week, it seems said patient, a bipolar, was sent out of the hospital with no med refills...wonder whose fault that was?
So...that's where all that's at.

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

Only one thing about it makes me happy - that he found YOU, a smart, dynamic fighter for truth and the vulnerable!
...and I don't want to believe all this is true either...because if it is true? It's horrible that she has been doing this, and horrible that she has been doing this for over 20 years without anyone noticing and stopping her.
Plus proving it may be very hard.
The reason her telling him he was hopeless worked? Well, people in severe depression generally feel hopeless.
...as a prestigious psychiatrist, she had a lot of believability...had. My guy now believes anything she says is probably a subtle attempt to gaslight him, and therefore gives it no credibility.
For now, mr C is at least contenting himself with telling as many of her other patients as he can to never go into a case review with her alone, and to pass the word around themselves to do that...she can't pull the really horrible stuff in front of witnesses.
Luck and blessing to you:-)
However...
Watching out for how much trust and control I give to professionals of any stripe is a right I reserve now and forever. A list like this one would definitely have me shopping for alternatives. Yea, paranoia is in my psycho baggage car, but, as you said, it is not always paranoia. There are very real dangers out there...
Hope you get it sorted, blue. Important stuff...
People who work in psychiatry more then any other type of medicine have a lot of power and control... Who believes the patient over the staff in a psych ward????
"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" unfortunately does exist... I'm so glad that he's recognized that something is wrong and is taking a stand... I know it's not easy.... Big hug for you and a blessing...x
It was sweet to win. I was vindicated and publicly. However, it didn't mean I thought I was superior to psychiatrists or psychologists, by any means. Didn't mean I never needed them again or submitted to treatment again, either. If anything, my therapy after that was more effective. I think I felt more empowered and did more with what I was taught in my sessions.
