Light pollution is not completely off topic for me. Electric lights are one of my nastier triggers. Gang rape beneath a farm light and child pornography. . .
There is growing evidence that light pollution does more than trigger my personal flashbacks to my personal trauma. Thought I would share a link, just for the heck of it.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Studies also show that artificial light exposure can trigger irregular hormone cycles in female mammals of some kinds. So they cycle to puberty younger, faster, and are set to "summer fertility" mode all year long. Not great. (That study was done in rodents and cats alike, btw. We have a lot in common, limbic-system wise, with the felines.)
It's also not great for bugs, btw. Bugs. Light. Breeding and migrating. *sigh*
I, however, am terrified of total darkness. Only when I'm indoors, however. If I'm camping, the natural light of stars and so on? Fine. It's no light in a house. *shudder*
Good post, Arfie.:-)
In many ways, you are lucky to be afraid of the dark, Leo. At the very least, it makes you normal. Good night sight is a curse here in the night glare of the 21st century. I am consistently stunned by what Light Agers call, "Dark." Some of the greatest lights in nature can only be seen after the sun goes down. Well. . . They used to be visible after the sun went down.
I know, I hate you can't get decent relief from the "glow". Sometimes I secretly enjoy power outages. I miss my A/C and refrigerator, but.... That's good sleeping for me, light-wise.
We had a very long blackout here after a severe summer storm. Three weeks of no power in parts of our state. Sucked for keeping cool at night for sleeping, but wow, did we see strs.
