Not sure how to take this.
I was talking to the man who comes to mow the lawns and he said he was talking to the owners of the place I rent. They are really impressed with what I've done with the gardens and said I had done a good job beautifying it. Surprised, I said do they live here? He said no, they live in .. (the capital city of my state). Oh, I asked if they had seen photos from the agent who does 3 monthly inspections. No they get on Google Earth and look and can zoom right in. Oh.
I'm not real comfortable with the lack of privacy here with fences you can see through, a neighbour who shares a wall and blocks of high density two story flats on the other side with people going in and out all the time. This latest bit of information has me feeling quite triggered because of my past history with abusive neighbours and being stalked including on social media in the past. I'm trying to not overreact but who ever said PTSD is logical? I had a drone drop down and look at me just once here but thought that was innocuous at the time seeing I had waved at it anyway. Its certainly a different world now and I'm trying to adjust but its a bit hard for an introvert. Anyway, no biggie I guess.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
3 monthly inspections?? Is that legal? Seems like a huge violation of privacy. Really excessive. You can't really zoom in enough with google earth to see enough detail of a garden to be able to see how nice it is. So that's a strange thing for him to say. The drone is also creepy. I think you are right to feel the way you do. But then again, I have PTSD and a psycho/stalker neighbor too.
I'm also a property owner and refuse to rent out any of my properties because of the hardship and hassle of trusting other people is more than I can handle. People can be incredibly callous about what they leave behind for the heavily stigmatized landlord. Balancing the responsibilities of ownership with the considerable risk of getting dumped on is far more confusion than I care to sort. No landlording for this nice-guy-wannabe. The more privacy a tenant demands, the bigger the mess they are probably going to leave behind them. Nope. Not going there. . . My skin's not thick enough for the position.
You really don't see much other then the outside of the home..... As landlords I would imagine it's just a little peek to make sure the home is looking well tended and it seems like your attention has really impressed them Looney
I don't think that anyone would pick this mode if they were truly stalking or trying to get into your business sweetie

you are right to be aware of your surroundings and paying attention to the signs that make u uncomfortable. and good job talking to the lawn guy if you are introvert.
agentsmith is right...multiple inspections in a year is excessive unless there are other units connected to yours that they are looking at as well.
but sun is right too. google earth and satellite views cant see inside windows, and are sporadic random images like kate said.
the drone thing i will share a story about...
i have had weird stalker guys watching me and my houses as well. but i know a guy who does aerial photography and he uses his drone for shots of the city that he sells. at least from what i have seen of drone shots, they are not like telephoto lenses.
can you look into your landlord and see if they have other properties? find out how other tenants respond.
but there are shady shit landlords so keep paying attention to you gut and follow it
Yeah, like Leo was saying, if you live in an area that's not remote it was probably photographed years ago by now so the images would be from before you moved in to your place. However, that's about technology; your feelings about your landlord are probably not outdated.
My property management changed managers over the property I rent and he's been harassing me since he took over receiving my checks. He's complained that my check wasn't torn off along the perforated line correctly (he cashed it fine), he's complained I've sent it to the wrong address (I haven't, though he's moved three times in a year and it could happen do to that), you name it. My apartment is a pit but it's cheap, so I'm not letting him run me off with his nonsense. Still, nonsense it is.
Keep your antennae up about that landlord, then, though not about Google Earth, just in general. And congrats on what you've done with that garden!!
