There is something I have been planning on bringing up to my psychiatrist, but I thought it may be a good idea to also run it by the group here.
I was diagnosed with OCD around the same time I was with PTSD. However, my obsessive compulsiveness is only a problem if I am experiencing hard memories of my trauma. I find myself repeating words and turning my head to the left side and only to the left side over and over again. It's more like jerking my head to the left as I repeat all my words a certain number of times. But this only happens when I am struggling with my PTSD.
Does anyone have any experience with this or have any insight?
Also please forgive me for not understanding well. I know my question is probably silly. I'm just trying to make sense of my diagnosis. I don't know why I keep getting diagnosed with OCD by almost every doctor I see.

If your OCD is triggered by PTSD, then once your trauma therapy gets to a certain point, your OCD will pretty much clear up, since one is causing the other..
Its hell.....My OCD presents itself in intrusive thoughts the trauma related thought it torments me all day..
I also get obsessed doing anything shopping, when I was trying to start my business I would go so obsessed about it and compulsive working on it obsessively to the point of a perfectionism no one could give me..
So I would eventually burn out and leave...
Don't mean to hi jack your post just giving you samples of why I was diagnosed with OCD.
Behavior like that plus intrusive non-stop thoughts.
But its usually something that takes away from your life and you just can not stop.
Anyhoo. . .
I have never been dx'ed with OCD (like I need yet another dx!!!), but I obsess ALLOT. Especially when I am in episode and triggering all over the map. Repetitions, rhythms, patterns, physical movements, etc., help me to drown out the obsessive thoughts, flashbacks, et al. Counting, figuring statistics, singing the same song over and over and repeating phrases would be among my personal faves. Yea, the comfort can easily run amok and become destructive, when consciously channeled, I believe they can even be therapeutic. Kinda like meds? Conscientious use can of tremendous benefit. Abuse can be disastrous.
Don't know if it fits your case, or not. Just sharing.
Gentle support while you sort your own, unique case, Pokem. Hope you feel free to sort here, with zero need for forgiveness. Just getting by with a little help from your friends.
If the OCD only happens with PTSD, I'd say it's not truly OCD, but a symptom of the PTSD.
I know I only get certain things when I'm in a triggered state...
Look for patterns, my friend. You'll find answers.
Hugs.
I'm also with Arfie on counting, sing songs over and over ect. It is a great way to get things under control.
Please don't ever be afraid to ask any one of us a question. We may not have the answer but I'm sure we can help you find it.
