Find support with others who have gone through a traumatic experience. Whether you have chronic or acute PTSD, we are here for you.

Since many with PTSD feel that their traumatic event wasn't traumatic enough, I've still been wondering this about myself. I know I developed it after watching my dad's horrible cancer diagnosis/treatment for 2 and a half years, and by watching him die in front of me at 12 years old, but I'm not sure about something else...
I was horrendously bullied for years by classmates in school to the point where I had to become homeschooled just to escape. Then, my brother started emotionally/verbally/psychologically abusing me when I was 14 and continues to this day. (I'm 24 now.) Do you think these things would also qualify as "trauma?"

Fun facts to up your day:The Big Bang wasn't IN space... it was OF space. How does that happen? Well, now you know why I'm NOT a physicist. Cuz I dunno. It just happened. Thena gain a new hypothesis is that our "black energy/matter" is actually waste dumped in our universe from somewhere else's black holes. How and all that? Don't ask. You start getting all "The Matrix" and muttering...

I wish you some peace with all of it, knowing you do not need validation for your feelings and memories, be safe. xo
You feel lousy. That's valid.
....and yes, validation on all three listed. Even individually they can be defined as trauma, traumatic. Many might get through one of the events you listed only to have another double down on the affects, in a cascading reaction.
I hope you have some source of therapy since the sooner started the better the result.
This just-a-patient subscribes to the theory that diff between PTS and PTSD is the way the trauma is processed. I still lack specialized vocabulary for it, so again I stoop to analogy to describe it. My personal favorite analogy is Gangrene. A papercut can develop gangrene if neglected and/or abused viciously enough.
Dunno. . . Just my personal fave of the theories I have heard. I am still entertaining other theories and looking for better ways to speak my understanding of this one. Works in progress. . .
Welcome aboard, Niennag. Hope ya gots more high fiber therapy chews in your bag.
Once in a therapy session I mentioned how my boss had insulted my intelligence and how annoying that habit of his was. My therapist called this a trauma. I didn't see it that way. I'd gone through serious illness and neglect that inflicted serious damage and I didn't want to use the same word to describe "that" and an insensitive remark. So we settled on "Big T Trauma" and "little t trauma" to talk about them. My therapist said that she viewed any negative impact on a person as some form of trauma, even if we could brush it off. So She would probably say that you did go through a trauma.
Best of luck in your sorting and many healing thoughts. You never have to prove anything here.
