Just typing that and my mind is telling me that is wrong, but I don't know how else to put it, to start it.
A couple days ago I did a stupid, stuck my foot in a hole and fell. It is only the fourth of fifth time since crushing part of my spine that I have fallen. I managed to lessen the impact by hitting the ground rolling for several feet, but I wrenched my knee and tweeked my spine. It took four tabs of vicoden taken over 45 minutes to get to the point I could breath easily.
Yesterday there was no getting through the pain and I just sort of ignored the world and got through it. Today has been better, but I have been shaking. No amount of pain killers has stopped the shaking and my anti-panic tranquilizers have just combined with the pain killers for nap time.
What I just realized is that overwhelming "fight or flight" instinct that has been tweeking at me all day IS my PTSD. I am fighting from running away from the pain. I am fighting to not run away from the fear that a fall could snap the crushed part of my spine and leave me not just paralyzed, but unable to breath. Fear of being useless.
I am resting today and will rest again tomorrow. Understanding brings calmness.
