I have to go through a medical evaluation in a little over a week. Why is it when someone causes injury to you that you have to go through an 8 hour evaluation and fill out 30 pages of questions when they already have your entire medical file? I am feeling very anxiously about the appointment and the questions want very detailed information about my traumas which are very triggering.
My legal team keeps telling me to try to complete everything, but I am not sure they understand how bad this is affecting me. I am fighting the urge to self- harm right now. Haven't I been through enough? Going through 5 years of h#*! being emotionally abused and ostracized to the point where I had to ask even to use the restroom and I had to retire to save my sanity. I have been through so much in my life time. I dream of accidents, corpses from crime scenes, shooting, stabbings and being constantly criticized and yelled at. I just really want peace. How do you handle these awful dreams? I don't get a lot of sleep because I am afraid. When I do sleep I wake up in a panic. I am having a really hard time working through this and on top of all this I just found out I am going to have to have knee replacement. My doctor says he doesn't know how I am even walking. I am trying to relax but my anxiety is through the roof!

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

... observed a solar eclipse.

the medical questoinnaire is the short version fo your file. It places you OUT of context, and then if they do check the file, they can look for inconsistencies, etc., to deny this that or the other thing. Lawyers should not be let near medical files, IMHO, but that's me...
So... When it becomes "too much"? SAY SO. If you think you'll throw up from stress, SAY SO. I have learned since 2011 that my best weapon against medical exam stress is to announce loudly "I AM NOT OKAY STOP NOW OR I WILL BE SICK/DIZZY/PANIC ATTACKY". (Yes, LOUDLY. Docs get into their groove and forget to hear us. Ditto nurses etc.)
As for me... I used to paint and sketch out the blurred overall impression of my bad dreams. Led to some weird as heck landscapes, but ... it got the images out of my head and into paint, where *I* ran the show, not the images.
HUGS of support. It's a suckfest, I agree, and if you have PRN meds, or some scent that helps you re-center out of triggering and flashbacks? (I use peppermint, b/c it penetrates)... Have that along. It's not your job to look tough. Medical and legal peopl eneed to see the honest effect of this stuff.
Good luck. I'd be a wreck, too.
Huge hugs and thoughts and prayers for peace and strength.
I did end up cutting so I am sore today and not feeling that well, but I really appreciate all the support.
