I have really bad PTSD. I was molested as a child by three family members and was raped as an adult and born a child because of it.
I choose to keep the rape child because I don't believe in abortion or adoption. I think if possible the child should be raised by the mother and I LOVE my child so that's what I choose to do. I do however make the victimizer pay support because he caused it so he should have to help support her but not help raise her.....I have a high amount of anxiety and I used to hear voices pleading and begging for help due to untreated PTSD because the anxiety turned into paranoia because it was left untreated.....I do feel I need a med for anxiety which I am going to ask MY new GP for when I see him. I am going to tell him I have PTSD and ask him if he will treat me for it. I refuse to be treated for Bipolar and Schizophrenia no longer. A dear friend to me who has a masters in social work says that PTSD if left untreated can mask itself as other mood disorders......So with that being said I am going to sign up for intense therapy and take something for anxiety only.......I will refuse to see a pdoc and take anti psychotics that zap my energy and turn me into a droned zombie......Thanks for letting me share. Will you all be okay with me being done with the flat affect? It's so BORING.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
However, as you get started, it might help to not COMPLETELY stop your medication but switch to some kind of other treatment medically for mood swings or get them to be very light. Only reason I say this is therapy can be VERY intense. And if the PTSD is so bad it has masked itself as a mood disorder - well I would hate to see you collapse under the intense therapy triggering unmanagable emotions.
Another way to go about it- take it in steps. Go for ptsd therapy, once you feel like that is working and youve hit a good place, take down some meds, work on your therapy more until that comes to a stable place, take down some meds, and keep alternating. This way you WILL be coming off your meds for bipolar etc and getting back your zeal, but you will b e doing it at a more reasonable pace and it will be easier to decipher if it is ptsd related or chemical. Plus it will be much less stressful.

It tells all about how the anxiety of PTSD is due to excessive chemicals in the bloodstream. That's why anxiety meds are so helpful to PTSD sufferers.
