I am sliding into thought loops today. Big surprise, huh? Learning a new song sometimes helps. It at least makes semi-constructive use of the repetition.
Thought I'd share the song I am trying to learn.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
I was told the dulcimer is "idiot-proof". Ouch.
Thanks for the links:-)
My project last time I played (a year ahog now, since my hands ache so much worse this last year) was to adapa Dvorak's "For the New World" to dulcimer. Didn't go well, but I did a pretty good Chopin's Raindrop Prelude. (I used to play piano. I can't b/c of the wrist damage from my 2011 accident. *sigh*)
To me, the only instrument more beautiful than a virtuouso-played dulcimer is a virtuouso-played violin.
When I cannot play, I listen.... It helps.
Dulcimer idiot proof? Hm. Haven't found the idiot proof instrument for making music yet, myself. The only idiot proof box that makes music that I've found is the radio, so don't feel bad.
"Fool proof" is not a term I would have thought to connect with dulcimer, but then this old fool thinks foolishness is actually helpful in playing with musical instruments. Folks who take themselves too seriously tend to have the most problem with letting go and letting it flow.
