Truth? I'm kinda blase about such things. Eh. People die everywhere. Whatever. A nice decent house blessing and done, but I do that anyway. Family tradition on my mom's side. And everyone gets to hear stories about their new house from the neighbors, and in my expeirence 99 percent of it is bullspit. Especially this time of year! ... I say, lay your imagination to rest with a good homemade house blessing, and actually check the local newspapers for any record of such happenings, and remember that every time you clean or repaint or fix, you're claiming the house as yours and making unwelcome *anything you do not choose to welcome there*. My mom's family cleans a new home top to bottom, murmuring a prayer the whole time that esentially says "Only those things of light and love are welcome here". Even ifi t's a placebo effect, hey, none of us live in haunted houses!

BTW, my home state requires you to disclose to buyers if the house has been the scene of violent crime resulting int death (even if not in the home) and paranormal activity (even suspected), even if buyers don't ask. One bit of red tape I don't mind, I admit.

Yea, I've been pretty blase about it, so far. My first apartment in Europe was in the basement of a 400 year old Mansion which had since been converted to apartments, across the street from one of the oldest cemeteries in Europe. My roomie and I were convinced our apartment was haunted by two ghosts and we had quite a bit of fun with the speculation. Had it been disclosed on the property description for this house, I might have shrugged and bought the place anyway. None of us get out of this world alive, etc., etc., through the intellectual laissez-faire.

But. . . The creep factor seems to be on the creep. . .

I've been to the Gettysburg battlefield enough at midnight (being the sober one, I was the driver), and have yet to run into any dead that scared me. I'm not sure that they still let you drive around there at night.

Spooked a few deer though...

For sure there are no startled deer or enforcing park rangers in the house shadows.

Shorter daylight hours, new place, uncertainy = creep factor for me no matter what, Arfie. Always will. For what comfort that gives or doewsn't....

Oh that is awful you had to hear about that. Isn't that against the law? It is here in Canada, or parts of, real estate agents have to do full discloser as do the sellers selling. I would check with your agent that sold the house as there could be financial compensation for you
I think it is fine to buy a house if you knew what happened and got the reduced rate. Sorry you had this situation, but you are there now. Probably best to get someone to sage it( First Nations often do this and years ago I took some courses with them). Just do it when no one is coming to visit. I once moved into a house with my young kids and saged the house to clear their energy and bring our new beginnings. No one told me burning sage smells like pot lol. So my new neighbour pops by and the look on her face lol

Weird they didn't disclose that before you crossed your i's and dotted your t's. Like hello, crucial decision factors :) I joke but seriously, you wouldn't be the first to want to know that kind of thing.

I came from a haunted house before I moved here and it was not fun, apparently there was a portal, according to the paranormal team we had come in. We caught some creepy things on film and had even creepier encounters. I still am skeptical even tho I had an axe thrown at me, well in my direction lol. I saw a unplugged tv turn on to static, my husband saw the same thing. We saw my son be saved by a ghost man named "HoHo" (my then 2 yr old son named him). He was standing on the chair and toppled over but some how was lifted into a standing position and they, my son and the ghost walked down the hallway hand in hand. Cupboards and lights going nuts, hearing footsteps. The craziest one was a Native American little boy, cutest thing, woke me in my sleep and said hello, clear as day. He would play with the kids toys in the middle of the night, as well as during the day, and would stop if you asked him to.

We were told that when they come it's important to let them know this isn't a resting place and that they had to go. If you are scared the sinister ones will feed off of it. Also to save the house every few months.

Since my dad died I've had a couple experiences starting from that very day he died. The minute he died I had this nausea and it happened that I had to pick my sons up from a play date right then too. A deer stopped in the road and we stared at each other for a few seconds, you know the stare into your soul type of stare. I'm not sure if it's coincidence but I believe it was him saying goodbye. An indoor wind chime sounding for really a long time with no known reason, never has done that. A picture flying off the wall. A pen spinning on the table.

Sorry for ambushing your post it's just fun to talk about, even though I feel like people are going to be like ya right, give me some of what you're smoking, lol.

My personal herstory with this area has been geophysical. Rivers representing 5 State Lines. My interest in politics are approximately equal to a lawyer's interest in geophysics. I'd rather not remember the government names, much less the laws. I am clueless what the laws are and even less interested in legal requirements and/or law suits.

I believe spirits are everywhere, by all sorts of names, wrapped in a creative array of attempts to describe and/or mandate what lives beyond the power of words.

By sheer coincidence(?), this is Halloween weekend. I find myself wondering if I should put on a Halloween display with a "Murder House" theme. Perhaps invite the neighbors to come and tell their own stories of the place on a more organized platform. Just brain farting, but I have a sudden urge to go shopping. . .

Lol arfie, props to the most unique way of getting to know your neighbours. I'd be so down with that lol. I'd work on the theme name though lol, you know, since murder doesn't always have the most comedic appeal. I wish it would happen for you, I'd love to hear more.

I'm with Leo about it. As long as your house isn't built on an old cemetery / burial ground like my grandpa's house was. Yikes. Glad we had that thing leveled when he died and sold the lot to the university across the street who paved it over into a parking lot. Anyway, makes your place for a good haunted house for halloween (literally), if you feel like having any of those chatty guests over. ;)

You can burn sage and or do little things to make you feel safe (for some reason I feel like a good feeling like your safe though, idk if that makes me sound crazy) & it's extra good that you have your doggy with you, idk I feel like they protect us.
