The annual battle of the thermostat has begun. In Texas, winters are divine and summers are what you survive. It has been speculated that 98% of the current sunbelt residents would go back to wherever they came from if we outlawed air conditioning. Immigration would likely fall to zero.
The "Mommy Do Pie" is where each member of the family has the rights to make demands on Mommy without any awareness or care of what the other members of the family pie are demanding. Unmet demands result in equally variable and inter-departmentally unknown blame throwing. All the evil mommy's fault, of course. The battle of the thermostat is one of the many places where Mommy is the root of all evil. She is responsible for every hand that touches the thermostat and every temperature variation in the house. All unseen hands belong to mommy.
My husband and eldest son are the most volatile combatants in my own battle of the thermostat. They have been fighting over it all of our son's life without ever actually speaking to one another about it. Until last summer when I made it a point to not be here. Fallout from last summer's battle of the thermostat is still falling. Eldest son is not currently living here, but some war games are simply to important to abandon. He has been launching attacks in between hubby's grumbles and statements of his personal obvious.
Sigh.
Do I HAVE to come back from Chicago?

My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart. Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. A full cartload to unload and put away. I got everything put away.Dumped purse for a...

Admittedly, a trailer park solution, but hey...
Sympathies extended, and yeah, I tend to get heatsick without air conditioning.
...I do note that when it got up over 95, the humidity dropped, and my sweat actually evaporated. That was more tolerable than the usual outdoor sauna.
A year in New Orleans on the Katrina clean up mission, a year and a half in Ecuador, etc., etc., barely raised their awareness level. My MIL has been dead for 4 months and was mostly invalid for the decade prior to her death and hubs and his father are still using her as the go-between. Their communications of sporting statistics are perfect. All else is mama's fault.

Poor, poor pitiful me
Lord, these boys won't let me be
Wo-o-o-o-oe, woe is me
The Arf's intercontinental flight pattern is hard to out-brat. Warnings optional in the Arf itinerary. Simply gone always a distinct possibility. Where in the world is has the Arfin bitch gone?
Chicago got it's start as a Great Lakes shipping port. Wonder if I will find any Bee Barge candidates up there. Less than 2 weeks before I board the train. Choo-choo. (Arf pun intended)
