Marking Twain - Ramble Warning

arfie
For those who might not know, "Mark Twain" is a river navigation term for "Safe Passage." Used to be, anyway, before Samuel Clemens made it a household name. I am an amateur etymologist. I love reclaiming out-dated terms. I suspect Samuel Clemens is applauding from his celestial node on the bio-net. He was also an amateur etymologist and linguist.
Textually speaking, hubs and I are back to business as usual. I am not sure if that is a good thing, or knot. "Business as usual" is a slippery affair for somebody from a silver platter family. I am saving that sort for another time. One step at a time.
He tells me that eldest son (36) is holding steady and still working the therapy network, but still quite fragile. Eldest son and I are proof that similarities cause more problems than differences. We are so much alike that we trigger one another with the best and most loving of intentions. There is cause to fear that my return could upset a fragile balance.
Vicksburg is a beautiful, friendly town with amazing river access, but nothing about my current efforts feels right. Feeling like I just drove my 2-bitch-campsite (a hatchback) into the river mud again. Efforts to move are spraying more mud everywhere while they are getting me nowhere.
I have heard it said that when you don't know where to go, it is usually best to go nowhere. Guess I am checking in for another 3 days right here where I am.
Simply marking twain. Prayers (by whatever name) in progress.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Seems that contributing to the growing population of homeless people with mental illness is the best available suggestion. My summary. Didn't find that precise wording while I was surfing.
Yet another gap in the system?
Me duele a la cabeza. My head hurts. Heart ain't doing so good, either.
There's have to be a system for dealing with them....in order for there to be gaps...
Sad but, in my opinion, true.
When my older sister was in high school the older brother of her friend had a psychotic break and made a hit list (he was stopped before he acted on it). It wasn't pretty back then, and it's not much better now. As far as I know, he got diagnosed as schizophrenic, and his condition got controlled by medication.
But my sister lost track of her friend decades ago, so I have no clue how he's doing now. At this point he'd be...60?
Before his problems, he was going to Dartmouth and on track to be a lawyer.
The horrors of homelessness just keep growing, cheese. It is hard to get statistical verification, but I do believe the problem is now greater in the U.S. than in most of the "3rd World" countries. Guess where a significant percentage of illegal immigrants end up?
I used to be an enthusiastic servant to homeless populations. Now that my own offspring has spent time on the other side of the soup lines with the prospect of sending him there permanently looking like the only option available. . . Maybe it would be easier if I call him, "An abuser." He does, indeed, get violent.
Took the snap right out of my super cape. Color me anguished.
Yes, Traumatic Brain Injury is among the causes of homelessness. Ouch.
With schizophrenia, I have hopes for there one day being a way to prevent it. And I think that it's tragic that we haven't spent more research dollars on it.
My more functional (this month, at least) son is schizophrenic. He has embraced therapy and responded well to it. All of us, including his wife, are able to work together to get him through episodes. They pass much more easily with loving collaboration, with his own collaboration being the most important piece of all.
