My grandmother passed away last month, she was a huge part of my life. After my mother died when I was 6, she was the only one there for me and encouraging my self esteem. Lately I've been so busy with my own life I would ignore her calls and barely visit. She was in the hospital for a year and I was too frightened to see her, especially after my PTSD due to my mom's passing.
The night before the funeral, everything hit me, I envisioned her entire old house (which she moved out of 15 years ago) down to every detail. I remember seeing her and touching her face, running around the house, unravelling her yarn balls and feeding the seagulls off her bay deck. Every little detail, so vivid.. something I haven't thought about in over a decade, all coming back to me.
The funeral I felt alone. My husband, my father, my step mom, my cousins,my aunt and uncle, my godmother and godfather, my mother's friends were all there.. yet, I was alone. The ONLY good part about my past has gone over to the other side. The only person who truly believed I was someone.. who thought I was beautiful.. who thought I could conquer anything.. is now gone. And I couldn't say goodbye or how much she meant to me. I think about her all the time now. It makes me sick. Memories keep circling around, and I just wish I could be back in that time with her. I don't think I'm going to recover from this one.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
No, xo. I do not believe you are going to recover from this one. Do you really want to? Your grandmother sounds like a beautiful woman. May you tame the pain of her loss far enough to sit in joy with her memory.
Heal well. Cry it out.
PTSD also involves grief work, so in that they are similar.
It's part of the life cycle to lose the elders and gain the newborns.
I hear you saying that the others around you, including your husband, are not able to be supportive to you in ways that you need. Others of us are in the same situation. I look to God for all that. He's the only One I can trust and look to, talk to. You may say that's just a crutch, but I've experienced miracles in my life.
i dont know how it will go with you, but i still have regrets about my grands for not being more for them there, i wittnessed bought of them commited suicide in the same way, i was around 23y old then
i dont try to guess what made them to end it, there is no answer there i just hope they are in better place now and that they are at peace, i think about them now when i have bad days as my guide as my motivation, they are in my heart and ones who gives me a strenght in dificult time, i cherish beautiful memories that i had with them
take care, it takes time
