visiting Ireland for the first time; everyone seems less angry here! Still concerned about a friend who was suicidal. When I first had a crush on him, I assumed he was kind of a typical male who was sort of bragging on social media because of his writing talents, math skills, and being a runner (he’s considered a good dancer, but he’s stepped back). You’d really think he has it all, looks, friends, etc. but, then he revealed he is at least bisexual (and I overheard that he has cancer or is in remission) and shared some of his closely guarded novels he’s working on, which are so sensitivily written and so identified with his female protagonist, that all my snap judgements based on social media fell away. I’m worried that there is some self hatred about being attracted to men based on a his blog ( he talks about the “moue of puberty” which means “pout or disappointment” which seems unusual for a man to say) he sent me a snippet of poetry we’d been talking about yesterday, but he had his beloved penguin character “garroted by a lover” dying violently and that is so concerning. So, I’m very concerned he is actively suicidal and still feel guilty because of my feelings for him and dumping my issues on him in the past.
i suppose I shouldn’t play arm chair psychologist, but I can’t help but worry that he will hurt himself

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
You are right. You shouldn't play arm chair psychologist. not even if you are qualified to play psychologist in your work life.
It is not mine to sort, but I am curious.
How many crushes do you have?
I've also heard that you have to fly to get there...and I hate flying...so not my cup of Guinness.
Have fun!
It's interesting what you discovered about the less accurate perception of your friend from social media vs. the more accurate truth about who he really is. That's the reason I quit Facebook.
Your friend sounds wonderfully talented, and that he's so earnest that he's applying those talents to working out some issues he feels he has toward himself. I hope what you're picking up on is only that, and not that he's actively suicidal. One never knows, though. I lost a best friend who was a conservatory-trained jazz musician and had to be his pall bearer. I was the last person to speak to him, and I couldn't tell what was about to happen at all. I doubt if he knew himself.
I hope your worst worries are just worries and don't become realities like happened to me with my friend, and that your friend turns out to be ok, but I understand how you feel.
Relaxing on the trip and some of his posts are “back to normal” so less worried. He did go to the hospital for feeling suicidal a few weeks ago, but hopefully he’ll be okay.
