Good day,
I am new to the site, and am so glad I found it! I wish I had found it long ago.
I was diagnosed with PTSD 2 years ago after being triggered during a trip home for Christmas to visit family. I was just going through old photos with my Grandmother when a certain one sent me spiraling. I'm sure I don't have to explain to anyone here how I felt for the days following.
I started therapy not long after. I always knew I had been abused, but for over 20 years I tried to ignore it, and avoid having to deal with how it effected my life. Then I always tried to deal with it myself, and in my own ways. It got to a point when I realized I needed help from some other source. I found a therapist, and she was a great resource. I started group therapy, and got myself a new family doctor, and eventually started medication. I thought I was on the right track..
Almost 2 years later.. and I feel worse now than I did then. How is that possible? All this work I am doing, and have been doing for 2 years has left me very confused, frustrated, and sad. I have always managed to hold on to that little bit of hope that life will get better. I feel as though I have worked so hard at this. Why on earth do I feel so crazy, alone, and disheartened all the time...

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

I can't exactly answer your question as to why you feel so low, but I can say that your hope is well-founded. Each of us is different ... with a different path. But enough people on this site have healed for me to know that it is possible, and since you are doing the work, you will get there.
Well, in a nutshell for me? As I reach newer, deeper understandings of how effed up life was or is? I hit patches where I'd swear I'm back to square one. I'm not, but it sure feels like it.
And sometimes when you get some healing on one thing, other things "pop up" out of the soul/subconscious. That's how it is for me.
I believe healing is possible. I just have to keep plugging.
How is it possible to feel worse after 2 years of therapy? In my personal recovery, I went through a long stretch where I SEEMED to feel worse, but I don't believe I actually DID feel worse. I think I was just admitting how bad I felt for the first time in my life. Learning how to allow and process that pain hurt like a father-fuck. Just me... Each of us have a unique path to healing.
I can't help you with the feeling crazy part. I am okay flaunting my personal crazies. As for feeling alone and disheartened... You found this forum... Let us assure you that you are not alone.
Thank you for the warm welcome everyone, and the responses.
I know we are all in this together, and none of us are alone. We are each fighting a battle and we all have to find the right tools to fight it. It helps in knowing we are not alone, but it is also a very sad reality. I know none of us would wish this on anyone else.
Thank you again for the support, and the friendly welcome. I am so glad I found this place.
There's layers involved, and a lot of crying as well.
