I have been irritated for days now. After getting my PTSD Service Dog, my husband doesn't want to follow the rules. After 2 years of proffessional training, I am continuing on their guidelines. The main one is the dog needs to bond with the handler, so other family members are asked for the 1st 3 weeks, no look, no touch & no talking to the service dog.
My husband knows everything, more then the trainers. He does his own thing, the trainer came again to the house last week for a check up. She told him the rules again and why. Within the hour after she left, he patted the dog. We have a pet dog, he doesn't pat him much but makes a big effort with the service dog. The cat he ignores.
I am very angry and feel I have zero support from him. Such a simple tasks and despite being told by me and the proffessional trainer, he does his own thing. I finally have a pal that looks after me and feel so grateful after years of waiting...it just breaks my heart that he doesn't care

Mornings or Nights?*You can’t say both (or neither), or add stipulations, or make substitutions- just commit and pick one of the two choices!

How is the marriage counseling going?
Patti, typically service dogs take a few months to bond with their new owners, all dogs do unless they are puppies. I got my dog a few weeks ago and he is 2 years old. They want him clearly to bond just with the handler. Pet dogs can bond with all family members.
i would use that command whenever your husband reaches for him. and get up, if you have to and leave the area.
make a clear distinction that this is unacceptable.
at least to your partner - i mean the dog.
what a freaking jerk.
i'm so very sorry. gentlest hugs.
then go and cuddle with your dog. or maybe take a nice walk xo
take it completely away from that and make it about the two of you bonding. you got this xoxo
