Youngest son and wife are finally getting around to cleaning out the storage locker that used to be a master bedroom suite. I sure am looking forward to getting out of the rental biz, all together, charity or profit. I am hoping to get through it without any more quotes from the Tenant's Council web sites.
The DIL is still not speaking to me. The Monster-in-law is persona non grata? Just guessing. She remains a closed-door mystery in my perception. Think I'll just let the mystery be. Data unavailable. Youngest son and I never did quit speaking, but it is --in my opinion-- both right and good that he is more husband and father than son at this phase of his life. Setting up a family foundation is no small feat. His second child is due this month.
We have been renewing the grand bond in recent weeks. Both grandson (2.5 years old) and grandparents are having a grand time with it. Hubs and I are more than a little nervous about the brutal abruptness with which that bond was severed back in June and worried that a repeat of that scenario will be even more damaging in repeat rounds. Still. . . Love requires leaps of faith. Damn. Where are those perfect people for me to love?
Youngest son wants me to babysit while he and the wife work in the storage locker later today and tomorrow. Is it even possible to "babysit" while the parental units are present? Trying to "babysit" while baby knows mother is physically present was one of the problems which led to my side of the MIL/DIL blowout.
As of last night, hubs and I are --once more-- feeling like "running from" is the saner option here. Sending me on an over-night trip might be the safety margin to get us through the storage locker clean-out with a minimum of family drama. We decided to sleep on it and re-visit the issue this morning.
It is kind of handy to have my prior support group sorts available here for review. These issues gas-light with natural ease. The written dialogue helps clarify what actually happened. It is less than six months since the blow-out and the details are already fuzzy in my mind.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Soft support, Arfie. Sorting in-laws is, for me, an ongoing struggle without the complications of children.
My gut, is DIL has a propensity to be STUBBORN, and manipulative. Might be easier to just bend over backwards for the short visits. Soon grandchild will be older and you can bypass DIL. :D
Please understand, I am not in your shoes so easy for me to say. I just feel bad for you and it is unfortuante DIL wasn't easier to get along with. But she is your sons choice so sometimes worth putting up with the crap to a point.
Difficult situation, I feel for you Hugs
Leo, Yea, I think I figured out pretty early on that if I want human love in my life, it will have to come from flawed humans. Good thing I get along so well with critters, huh?
Cheese, I am with you on that one. I went through a mind-rip of flashback sequences, both before and after the blow-out. Sorted most of them as they came up in other posts. For this little sub-drama, I seem to be holding steady in the here and now. Thank you for the support. It is priceless. I get by with a little help from my friends.
Lilly, You silly brat. . . Where's my cheese?
Musk, More bending over backward for the DIL would fit the definition of insanity as doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. Grampy and I are taking our chances with minding our side of her closed door and trusting her to mind her side of the closed door. Easier said than done. . . But. . . That is why I maintain a support network. We can only pray for our grandchildren.
The storage locker looks worse than it did before I left. Still more wait time before we get to convert it into a room. Maybe time to shell out still more bucks for a haul-off service? Anything to get this charity lease terminated. I am ready for a new chapter.
God please grant me patience. NOW!!!
Time to tuck in the chicks.
