I told him that we ALL use things to help us get around, and helped him list all of the things that he used from the shoes he wore, to the big yellow bus that he road to school.
Then we talked about how silly it woul be to walk to school, when he could ride the bus.
Welcome to DS, and sorry for what brought you here. People can be downright awful with their labels and how they treat anyone that's different.
Fortunately, I got help after coming up to the USA from a VA PTSD therapist who agreed to see me even though I was a combat veteran but not a soldier. That made the peer to peer support I get here at DS PTSD really stick, so I recommend a therapist if at all possible--a real PTSD specialist. He changed my life.
