I'm B-a-a-a-ack! I got my school prep done!
Thanks for the CL time off these past 2 week as DS PTSD. It was my first vacation from volunteer work here in 8 years. It wasn't a vacation, though, really, because as you know it was a last minute self care measure I had to take to devote myself full time to what teachers around the world are scrambling to do: get ready to go back to school online by converting years of face to face lesson plans to virtual lesson plan technology.
It wasn't easy. My little Appalachian community college has no resources for helping us instructors there get it done. Fortunately, before the pandemic I built up a relationship via Zoom with Jon, a great computer tech from my textbook company. When I wasn't able to get my lesson plans uploaded online after my first week off from DS PTSD by the Fri Aug 1st deadline upon which we'd agreed, Jon was good enough to give me another's week's extension until yesterday, Fri Aug 7th.
I got up literally at the crack of dawn all week and worked through until dinner time every day this week to meet Jon's extension deadline yesterday, and I'm proud to say: I got it done! Jon had a Zoom meeting with me yesterday and checked my work over and not only was it complete, it was correct--there was nothing he had to fix. For an old dog (62 years old) learning new teaching tricks (I started teaching at age 22 before there was in Internet) that was amazing.
I was able to tell my community college boss I was ready as school opens next week. She didn't have any idea how much went in to getting that done, but she did reply that since I was done early it meant she could ask if students from a high school in the next state over nearby could now enroll in my classes, too. In a time of uncertain enrollment as schools open in the biggest crisis schools have faced since World War II, I was proud she'd ask and I'd be ready to say yes. All of my classes have good number of students enrolled in them. Wow.
So I'm coming back to DS PTSD as CL now grateful for the time off to get things done at my full time paying job. I appreciate your patience and support in that self care I had to do. Gracias!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I can see that you've been working really hard... It's important to know when we need time for ourselves and I'm glad that you took what you needed to
You have been missed..... It's GREAT to see you..... Big hug.....xo
We've missed you.
It's a wonderful surprise to know I can go on and convert the psych classes I teach face to face to online lesson plans this afternoon. I have a psychiatrist's appointment at noon, and then I can hunker down and work on those psych lesson plans.
My community college's departmental meeting is tomorrow, so I'd like to be able to report I'm all ready by tomorrow and therefore ready for when classes start next week. Fingers crossed.
I'm supposed to be on a Zoom meeting online with my boss in a virtual departmental meeting she called to start off the school year, but I can't do two things at once. I got some posting done on DS PTSD, but I wanted for you to know there's a plumbing emergency going on in my house right now offline. It's always something, huh?
