Help w visualizations for worst pain in 3 years?
mujicaptsd
I'm posting about my pain. Something about having made appointments with 2 physical docs in 2 days set off my body with the worst I've had since my kidney disease dx in 2011. So I've already been to the doctors and I can't take painkillers because of my kidney disease itself, a real catch 22.
I've been using all of my visualizations and meditation tricks of the past years to get through the pain by the half hour at the time since 6pm. It's almost 10pm, and I've gotten through 4 half hour ordeals. My eyes are watering just from unrelenting pain and I'm running out of new visualizations.
I know others have 30 second ordeals worse than the 30 minute blocks of pain I've set myself out to get through 1 at a time. I'm running out of new visualizations for each half hour, though, so any links to any would be welcome from those with more pain experience than me.
I only have one more day to teach this week since tomorrow's Friday, and I have perfect attendance at work since January 2014. It I can get through the night and tomorrow, I think I'll be able to hold on to that record.
Again, any links to visualizations to help cope with pain would be helpful. 3 kinds. 1. I have electric, burning nerve pain in my legs. 2. Harsh dull pain in two damaged disks in my back. 3. Then nerve pain where the inflamed cyst is in the bone at my spine's base and is swollen such that it's pushing against all of my nerves coming together there.
It's triggering the daylights out of my PTSD and bringing me flashbacks of being tortured in the 70s in South America when I was 15. No surprise, even though the source of the pain is not directly an electric cattle prod. When the neuropathy flares up a dying nerve in my legs it feels similar. Rationally I know it's not the same, but it feels a lot alike.
Thanks, my friends. I'll offer support tomorrow when I get past this.

It is a life saver for me for muscle pain and joint pain. It works great, especially when my pain levels have reached that over the top point where everything hurts so bad I don't know what hurts anymore.
Just a thought, but it might help.

My doc said the only thing was to go to the ER and be an inpatient on morphine until this passes. I'm just wanting to stay on this side of the edge of dialysis where I've clung for 3 years and keep working on my bucket list, part of which it to keep working my job. Last time at my job I missed 6 days they sent a Human Resources person to me to try to get me to leave the job and go on disability. As long as I'm not on dialysis, I want to hold off on going on disability and work my job. When dialysis starts 3 times a week for 2 hours each time, then there's a transplant or death. I've held that and disability off for 3 years.
I think I can make it through this tonight. I have 5 points of pain: 2 disks and my nerve center at the base of my spine, and my 2 legs. But my hands have nerve damage, too, yet they're not hurting right now. There's that, 2 things not hurting. That's in my favor. I mustn't forget. Writing about it helps me remember I'm alone in my home tonight but I'm not alone in the world with this tonight.
Hold your rock. In cupped hands. Over your belly or heart whochevr is best. In the most comfy position you can find, even if it is floating in a tub. As you inhale, imagine you are inhaling clean fresh air, and lift the rock to your face and as you exhale envision the pain as a dark smoke leaving the affected body part, up to your lungs, out your mouth, and into the rock. You can modify this to visualizingthe pain simply being forced up from your toes, one body segment ar a time, until it is all concentrated as a sort of "smoke" that you exhale into the rock.... careful to inhale away from the rock.... or you can visualize the pain being simply forced up and out of your body, down your arms into your hands, and into the rock. I d it tha way because I found it better for me, with my widespread aches.... When you have visualized all pain into the rock, drop said rock into a pot of earth, throw it outside far from you, down a sewer, or into a glass bowl of salted water, and send your pain away with the rock.
Then call your neuro and ask for advice on where to place ice packs, or where pressure points are, so you can ice or push on them to interrupt the signals locally. Once you learn where to hit the nerve to disrupt it when it is i a leg, for example, or how to ice which nerve plexus? ohhhhh yeah. I love my neuro. He even wrote out on diagrams of the body where to do what for which pain.
Healing to you,
Leo
So nice my hands are only numb with nerve damage, not fiery with neuropathy. I can reach the cup. I can type and reach out with my hands to you. That's mercy.
It's going to work.
I got my breathing under control with my meditation, and I stopped dry heaving. I got my legs to work. Got up and went to my desk and got that Uruguayan amethyst to have a rock in my hand like Leo said. Back in bed holding it tight. No panting, no heaving. That's good.
Uruguay was my place of war that's now a healed PTSD place of peace. I saw it last month on my visit. I choose to believe. A little piece of Uruguay in my hand can give me peace. It can.
It is going to work. It is working. I'm not panting or heaving and I got up from the bed. Though I'm weak, it's going to work. I believe.
Thank you, friends. Bless DS PTSD. I can do this.
on my chest over my heart. The panting and heaving is gone. It weakened me, but now that is making me sleepy. So I can turn that into rest.
Since I first posted it's been 2 hours. The pain has
gone from 10/10 for 4 hours to a 7/10 pain level in the last 2 hours since I connected with you. That's progress. I can live with that. Why not?
I am weak, but I can turn that to sleep, and if I can sleep 6 hours I can have tomorrow.
It takes a busload of believing to get by. Thanks for
supporting my self talk choice to believe this could pass tonight.
It will. Pain at a 7/10 level isn't anything I haven't
seen before. There is mercy. I don't know how or where from. But I know when you connect and don't give up and isolate, I believe there is mercy. So there is. Be well, my friends.
But water also works. Water and earth cool and comfort and nourish us, after all.
Yes, 7/10 is often where I "live". OFr days on end.
I wish you healing, rest, and more rest.
You absolutely amaze me. When my head gets that bad I can't imagine accessing this site or reading much of anything.
I feel MUCH better now. Thanks to everyone.
