Help for a distressed Solider

I am not posting for myself I am posting about a guy i know who is an Active Duty Army Sergent. He had an abusive childhood and he has had two tours a few years apart. He was an infantry man in both tours. So he has been through and has seen alot. He is acting angry and cold towards me and will not me get to close. He hates it when I mention therapy. I am just worry about him and plus we are not on speaking terms. What can I do?

If he is still active, he may not want to believe in his PTSD. There ia a peer pressure of "Man Up Cupcake" that is no the people he serves with. My nephew just got home 6 months ago from a double tour.

He just asked last week what PTSD felt like. In service he knew his perception was changing, but the Marines just gave him an early out, combat fatigue. Now he feels he may want a place to talk. He also knows of his uncle(my first husbands PTSD) Even as young as he was he remembers the blowups.

So you may becoming a representative of weakness for him, he is withdrawing. He doesn't yet believe he can't handle it alone. But it sounds like that day may come soon for him. Don't push, it won't help if he cuts you out.

Seems like the not speaking part is an essential step. Several steps for this stubborn old fool. I, personally, need a bunch of steps between "not on speaking terms" and therapy advice.

How about a walk? Dinner? Something to repair the rift?

Hope you find something to bring both of you a bit of peace.

As a guy with PTSD from combat, I agree with arfie. Relationship must precede repair.

    Misplacing daily use items

    My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart.  Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot.  Got home, dropped keys.
