My school is constantly doing fundraisers. Like legit nearly constant. Our latest one was the "Scare Walk". I happen to live in the oldest building on campus, and the two floors above me are unoccupied, theres just not enough people to fill those two floors since this is a building that upperclassmen can choose to stay in. Anyway, back to the scare walk. It was held in our building on the 4th floor. They had various rooms with different scary themes, like a funeral in one and clowns in another. Freaky.
I didn't participate, mostly because I didn't know what to expect and it wasn't worth any triggering that might occur.
I might as well have been participating. I was horrified.
It sounds silly and I know that. I don't know if there was someone outside or if these people were just really REALLY good actors, but I heard someone yelling "HELP ME! I don't want to die!" and things like that over and over again. The problem was it sounded SO convincing. I almost called security.
I kinda still wish I did but looking back I would hope that other people would help if they saw someone screaming outside. So I've concluded it was fake.
I was freaking out. There were people screaming and then the actors were really loud, and really realistic. People were running and I could hear as well as feel that. I thought many times that people were in danger, until I reminded myself it was all just Halloween festivities. I didn't even have to attend the scare walk to be terrified.
I'm frustrated that my school was not more aware of those of us who might have some problems with dealing with the Scare Walk. I wish they could've had some sort of meeting for those of us who live here to tell us what to expect.
I'm hoping I can talk to the student life reps and get something like that in place for next year. I think I would've felt better had I been informed on what to expect. I wish I didn't feel ignored.

Sometimes, I think I have ODD. I can be oppositional. It seems that the only times that I feel like cleaning are when I should be doing something else or I have to go somewhere. Well, not everytime but most of the time. Yesterday, I was supposed to be doing online training for work but instead, I decided to work on my kitchen table. Most of the time, I don't know where to start and give...

I have a possible new diagnosis to discuss with my therapist tomorrow. It might be the answer to a question that I have had since I was 19. It's called Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD). It happens to a large percentage of people with ADHD, which I have. Actually, I have been watching videos about ADD/ADHD lately. I remember my Mom telling me that she watched a show on ADD and she...
Gentle validation, Lilove. The triggered state is no fun, whatever the trigger. One consolation about holiday triggers is that they are somewhat predictable. Next year you WILL be better informed. Gentle support while you work through the after effects of this round.
The problem is the volatile mix inside of me which the trigger ignites. That is where I defuse my triggers. Once that toxic spill is cleaned up, a trigger is merely an irritation. Life is full of those... Compost happens...
