The major events afloat in my life just now:
1) Progress in my own, strictly personal, life long studies of plants and watersheds.
2) Eldest son (36) has been rapid cycling - from submission to rage - in an episode I shall call, "The Bachelor Break-up Drama." For my personal coping, it is not the subject, it is the cycle. The subject is important, but rapid cycling is not a great problem solving strategy. Eldest son has been rapid cycling since adolescence. Just baton the hatches and hunker down until the cyclone passes.
3) Youngest son (32) has had a wife in the hospital undergoing emergency breast surgery with a frightening number of complications. He has two children (2 years and 3 months). How sad is it that the beaten crazy bitch wolf is the best available child care option?
Problem: Events #2 and #3 are having a HUGE impact on Event #1. Can I run for the safety of my own business now? Where's my corporate security guard to keep all that messy family drama a safe distance from my work?
The question:
When we are so mightily impacted by other people's problems, where do we draw the line between personal sorting and gossip? In my current position, that would, specifically, be The Dread Maternal Gossip. . .
Can I go play Mark Twain now?

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
It sounds like you have a lot going on in your family and personal life right now; I'll be sending positive thoughts and prayers your way!
Can he not afford a therapist or find a bunch of online people to process with?
...I suspect if you took a few days off and hid in a swamp or something he'd process with other people.
Much support, and go easy on yourself. You're more than a "beaten bitch wolf".
The good news is that I was able to get back a good focus on #1 today. The contractors resolved plumbing issues while the grandkids were hiding from the raging son and I was able to get to the cosmetic touches (sheet rock, etc) that still remain to finish this phase of the Master Suite to Sandbox conversion. Small steps, big faith and lots of prayer.
Putty knife up. Putty knife down.
Just breathe.
