thank you arfie. it means a lot to me bringing the misunderstanding to light. i appreciate it. i did create PNA (Please No Advise) as a shortcut tag to avoid lengthy explanations. i was actually being rather selfish, but in the end was glad to bring the gift to the rest of the group. i'm not mad at anybody that got confused. i know i don't post as much as other's. but i appreciate those who came to me wishing to set the records to right.

you see for me other people's advice (that is unsolicited) is a rather HUGE trigger that takes some times day to recover from. as many of you can relate to i'm sure life with PTSD or CPTSD is complicated. each of us have our story. we may not always tell that story to everybody. it more often comes out in bits and pieces. as for me many people over the years of my life would "Advise" me. now these people never had the whole story of my life nor had they ever been through anything remotely similar to me, but they knew better than me so the advise soon turn hostile. the unfortunate side effect is no matter how good the intentions i get set off. especially bad when there most definitely is evidence that the giver knows nothing about me or my world.

the other reason i had found a need for such a tag was sometimes the main topic of my post would get skewed mid thread leading helpful intentions way off course with untrue information that sorta got implied out of nowhere.

we all want to help each other. please use and accept PNA for what it is intended. mabey think about the person using it, why they are using it. give them the chance to open up on their terms. after all what is more healing than to be validated in taking back the power over your own life on your own terms.

I like this PNA and Arfie and DG so well explained it. Sometimes we are just in the stage of processing and the advice, like you said DG is triggering. I feel that sometimes too and now I know I am not alone...thanks


On the other side, I have received good advice sometimes that I really appreciated. I think there is a difference, some write from their heart and it gives you an insight such as "oh yeah, I didn't think of that". While others have the propensity to sound like "You idiot you should do this..." A bit exaggerated but you get my point.

When I studied biology in Ecuador, we invested quite a bit of lab time to the all-important debate over, "Are we studying DNA or ADN?"

don't even get me started on the world of text messaging! i still hate abbreviating things, yet i find myself doing it. and the emojis! arg! but i when you have to be brief oh well.

I think they're great as well BUT I have huge memory problems created by medication... I simply don't remember a LOT... So if people would write in brackets as it's being done here it would really be a big help.... I think it's so important to ask for what you want or don't want...Cool!....xo

I had forgotten what PNA even meant, so I'm glad to be reminded. Thanks arfie, and thanks for creating it, DG. I think a lot of the time I write here just to be heard, just to have witnesses to my struggle to do the right thing. I usually know what the right thing is, so advice isn't the issue for me often enough as much as the strength do to it.
