I wonder if I could sub-title the parenting of middle-aged children as, "The Art of Minding Other People's Business." I hate minding other people's business. Why are you even polluting my ear canals with this sludge? This is me, running for the safety of my own business. . .
Butttttttaaaaa. . . Once a mother, always a mother? Even with all their grown-up stinks and stains, I still want these people in my life. The grandkids? I'll even give up my Riverboat Captain dreams for them, though I am still greedy enough to paint them in as First Mates.
A much used therapy tool which has hopped out of toolbox recently is separating feelings from facts. I feel more than a bit lost at the psycho sort table because of that business line. So many of the facts on the table are not mine to sort. Are they? What a middle-aged persona thinks or feels is clearly not my business. Is it?
Still sorting. . .
Open discussion welcome.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
"GD" equals "General Discussion."
Fact is, I know I feel so weird about my own mom right now that I can only call it "grieving the walking dead" and that's not even a tenth of the mess.
Blessings on your discussion and rambles.
So I am writing as someone who doesn't truly know what it's like to be a mom but wanted to share a couple of phrases (to become actions) I've heard Dr Phil use that I happen to completely agree with
One is "Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy"...
I think 'right fighting' can create massive problems and it becomes all about who is right therefore who is wrong
Another is every difficult situation that we create 'needs a hero' and the hero is someone who can take a step back... a deep breath and not let the problems exacerbate and continue on ..
I know for me my mom was the person I was closest to in this world.. I do think it's important to have personal boundaries at the same time I think it's important to have an open mind and open heart....
Very true feelings aren't facts... We can often see things from such different perspectives depending on our personal truths... However our perspective is our truth
