February Social Security Check Missing
Half of my monthly income consists of my Social Security check. The other half is my state pension from teaching community college and my private teacher's retirement. I planned well for retirement and live paycheck to paycheck as planned. Living in Mexico now was part of that retirement plan because the cost of living is half of the cost of living where I lived in the USA.
Now that my retired income is half of what my salary was, it works out except for one factor I didn't count on: on a whim the pension funds will stop sending me my monthly checks. In the Fall it was my state pension. I got to know the bureaucrat who cut my check off well as I spoke to him daily for a whole month before he let my check start coming once more. He really had no reason to stop sending it, he just did it because he could. When he got bored with holding my check up after a month he said it was my fault he had to stop my check because I didn't have a US address. I got a friend in the US to let me use his, and presto! My check started coming again.
I sent a letter via FedEx to the Social Security Administration today asking now if THEY would re-start my monthly check. Hope they take it well, I was careful in what I said. The price for sending it from here was 70 dollars! Yikes! A friend had to lend me the money just for me to beg to get my money. How's that for irony? Ha! I imagine I'm about to meet a bureaucrat now like the state bureaucrat who gave me the run around last Fall. I'd appreciate your help with how this stress triggers my PTSD in order to keep me cool when talking to this man I expect to be hearing from soon. Support welcome.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

A physical address isn't always a solution. Mom's got one. We're still wondering if March will be okay or not. The new deposit/release schedule is NOT working.
Even here in Estados Unidos.
Fortunately, my mom has several thou in savings, but that's going quickly due to her hospital bills (medicare donut hole) and her pension just won't be enough atop SSA to keep her. :-/ You are not alone.
I do know SSA in my region (same as yours) is swamped. The waiting list for a return phone call was something like "just hang up and try next week", which most retirees can't afford to do. If we didn't pay a few of my mom's smaller bills (phone, Meals on Wheels) she'd be f*cked.
So you are 1. NOT alone and 2. NOT alone and 3. Probably only half as upset as I am, b/c I'm getting it from my charming /s/ mother AND SocSec. "PRove it", they said. So I e-mailed the bank records. Then they said "Prove those are hers with a notraized copy". Then they asked how I know my mom's SSN. Well, I'm her POA< you SOB/POS, so STFU, how about that?!
Banging head alongside you, amigo.
steadying support while you straighten those digits.
for what it's worth
the SSI scams seem to be intensifying. . . be extra careful with the phone calls, etc.
And never thought about saving, I was always anxious to go to mall and spend it on cd's And food......etc. I was reckless and careless.
That's they got mailed to me by check, each month. Now 30yrs later, it get's direct deposited, And I'm more careful with my money,
When Your a teenager You don't think about saving as much.
Here with you amigo, sending you lots of support & gentlest of hugs <3
Meanwhile, my smaller state pension check did come today. I cut my grocery list in half and just got the very essentials, but I am grateful that I could do some grocery shopping for milk and the basics.
Fingers crossed about the response to my FedEx letter. I didn't sleep well last night worrying about it. Try as I might for it not to, it does worry me.
Hopefully I'll send the forms off tomorrow with all of the documentation and get my check in a couple of weeks so I can buy the rest of the month's groceries. Jeez.
