Off to the store, taking my Drabbit with me. I feel like having some sort of small distraction with me makes it easier to be out in public. Not a wall-putting-up kind of thing, just something that I can easily talk about with people. If I'm able to I usually take my dog.
Anyone else do this, have an interesting conversation-starter or some sort of comfort thing that helps them focus and be present when out of your safe zone?

Check these out! I have a Stuplet that looks like a cat, but with wings and a bit of a mohawk. He's black, silver, and white.
So even though I could have gone to that HR office and turned in my forms wearing flip flops, shorts, and a t-shirt, I didn't carry a Drabbit but I dressed up. I put on a tie and jacket and my good shoes, so I might look better than I speak when I speak to anyone about my health care benefits. I get tongue-tied because it's a loaded subject for me.
It went fine.
Some of my most consoling doodads are little pieces of junk I steal --yes steal-- from people I like. Don't worry. I only steal from people I like and even then, I don't steal before I get you to tell me the story. What is the point in stealing a bad story? Never steal valuables, either. Stealing a personal treasure is bad karma. Some of those stolen doodads have gotten me through an entire crisis.
Still haven't named any of the doodads, though. How bout, "Drabbit All?"
