Discernment Weekend - Ramble Warning

arfie
I still need a life to call my own. I am still not certain whether my river wanders are a legitimate calling or just an excuse to run away from the life that is mine to live. There is no doubt that I typically run away to rivers when my flight mode has been triggered. Even in the desert I typically find and head to the nearest watershed. Still, I believe it could be a calling. Callings have been given weaker signs.
When I cut off my river wanders at Golconda, on the Illinois bank of the Ohio River, I earmarked Labor Day Weekend for the end of the discernment weekend. Rivers are tourist attractions, wherever you find them. Labor Day Weekend is the official, end of tourist season.
And here we are. Labor Day Weekend has arrived.
I am waffling between the river call and continuing my projects here in Austin. The projects are going gratifyingly well, but I am still feeling the hyper-vigilance while waiting for the next domestic drama to derail the train. Aside from all the domestic drama and boom stresses, the only real problem with my life in Central Texas is that there are no navigable rivers here. It's desert watershed system is quite fascinating, but far from navigable by boat. Still, I take considerable Old Hippie pride in the strength of the Urban Agriculture movement here. My current spread really could have a shot at being a part of it. Honey and eggs are already available. The medicinal herbs have been neglected in the domestic drama, but. . . I already have several established in spite of the domestic drama. Hive products other than honey are equally lost in the domestic drama, but the potential is established.
Hubs seems to be on-board with my resuming the river wanders. Seems to be. Not sure if his Super Martyr Cape is snapping or if he really is okay with it. He is a pretty super dude by nature. It is hard to tell sometimes. . .
Sorting. . .
Thanks for the sort space. Feeling pretty stable. Input welcome.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Got nothing but supportive vibes.
If he had wanted you to stay home, perhaps he could have cooperated with the family counseling project.
Just one of many. . . Rivers, bees, chickens and herbs just kinda go together, wherever they go.
Here in my 35th year of marriage, I feel like most of my career and field expeditions have been embraced by the family as, "Mom on the run." There are too many levels of truth in the image to disregard it all together. This is where the dialogue between hubs and I has been taking place. Hard to summarize, but quite hopeful. It is trending toward resuming my river research. . . I am currently torn between resuming in Monroe, LA or Golconda, IL. My next goal is to learn about boats. For as much of my life as I have spent tracking river banks, it is ironic that I know so little about boats.
When I coupled my last river excursion to the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers with getting out of the way of the DIL drama, I began obsessing over wanting a going away party for my next field expedition. My logic being that I want to start the trip as a credible field researcher rather than a run-away housewife. Housewife is a job I have done along the way, not a lifestyle choice. . .
Guess I am stuck with the "Mom" moniker. . . Even here in the Toxic People Landfill, I am still stuck being, "Mom" and "Monster-in-Law."
