From *my* personal experience only in the USA:
If you have insurance. If you live in a lrage enough city to have donation-supported "free" clincs for mental health services (which are limited, btw). If you can afford out-of-pocket. If you are so bad off that the e mergency department at the hospital points you to the free group counseling that lasts six sessions and then you have to pay or have insurance... All thigns I personall encountered in the last 5 years, most in the first year of seeking help in my case. Then I was lucky and then I was unlucky (I now pay out-of-pocket, and I'm gonna run the heck out of savings by end of 2018, and then what? Good question. Insurance won't cover mental health for me. I don't qualify for gov't aid, since Hubby works. And our free clinic went under for lack of funds in 2016....)
I know of people in other countries who seem to haev ready access to every health care *but* mental health. And many of us have gone a long time without counseling, etc., just depends. Sometimes on the whims of people we'll never meet and whose names we'll never know, b/c hey, the money should be spent on something like.... Well, I never do get an answer.
It also varies state by state in the US, by what I *read*, but I can't verify more than the states in which I've lived.
I pray we all get better access and care.
When I came to the USA for work I continued to get psychiatric support in English in the USA. Even with my good employee health insurance I find it to be more expensive in the USA.
So I plan to retire to Mexico in 3 years or so, where it will be cheaper again in Spanish. So it's not all in the same language in my case, but it works for me just the same, speaking just for myself.
