I took a long break from DS and decided to check myself into a psych hospital for a short while. My cPTSD was kind of just forming and starting to affect me when I decided to leave DS. My therapist likes to say that my mania, depression, and PTSD anxiety all 'hate me' but they 'like each other'. She said the symptoms feed off of each other and gang up on me. Ignoring that caused me so much anxiety I lashed out at everyone and pushed people away.
I am doing a lot better now that I've decided to manage the anxiety caused by participating in individual and group therapy. I tend to push people away. And there it is, that's the result of anxiety out of control. It gets out of control when I ignore it. I'm paying closer attention now and I feel ready to participate in the PTSD group in DS. I feel ready to listen and trust that others will listen to me.

I don't really know how to label this but I having a rough week and I can't say it's one thing.... I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

indeed we push people away...our protector parts can over protect to the point where we remain isolated and alone.
I like the analogy of the symptoms hating the person but liking each other. Fits my symptoms beautifully.
An analogy I have used throughout much of my own therapy is, "What you feed is what will grow." If I feed my symptoms, they will grow. If I feed my recovery, it will grow.
Whatever analogy you use to describe it, there is no doubt in my own mind that the symptoms need management. They breed sharp-toothed demons when I try to ignore them out of existence.
Whatever those whatevers, welcome back, Alan.
