Decided to paint the most accessible walls in the Gang Blamer Storage Unit. Most recently, for a blink of the cosmic eye, it was a nursery. The four grownups in the house even managed to keep it clean for most of the time it was a nursery. . . Letting go and Letting god. . . .
I went for "Fuzzy Duckling" for the trim and "September Morning" for the walls. I have a craving for a bit of sunshine in the current household ambiance. They are calm, yet bright colors. The test swatches are in place. Methinks I like them.
I like to start my projects with the most forgettable corners of the site. Despite many criticisms for my Whatever-you-care-to-call-it approach, I still believe keeping those forgettable corners clean makes for a cleaner end-product. Yes, folks, I am a dread closet cleaner. . . That is where I started the paint job.
Which forced me to confront the Precious Things of the last occupant of the room, along with the joyous "not-working" of consolidating and cleaning the residues under his Precious Thing management system. Sigh. . .
"And we go round and round and round in the circle game." ~Joni Mitchell
Still . . I have worked tougher job sites. A quick, minimal wording text on whether or not he wanted the Precious Things was answered in an even more succinct response in a reasonable space of time. "Ya." His Precious Things are in a free standing stack in the middle of the room. There is space to walk around them and even enough space to set up the saw horses for painting the shelves, etc. I've worked in tighter spaces. I'll decide whether or not to put his Precious Things back in the closet after the closet is finished. Please God, lead him to let his Precious Things be precious in his living space.
Think I like my Fuzzy Duckling on a September Morning. Yes, Mister Twain, fact is, indeed, not obliged to make sense.
Just an update.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Yeah, I'm a closet clean nut. Dad's training. It was all Navy regulation. No corner left un-toothbrushed. *sigh* But it does mean no nasty surprises. ... Mostly?
Luck and strength as you ponder and paint...
What I have done with my kids' precious things is pack them up in a giant storage bin and put them away. The theory is, if they never ask for them back I can safely dispose of them. In the meantime, I don't have to see them.
Confession: I've never gotten to the "dispose of them" phase. But at least they're all packed away out of sight.
Just a diversion thought on my part.
Hugs arfie, , But I really do like painting, it's the instant gratification of seeing change happen.

...I have only once lived in a place I owned, and that was a 20-foot travel trailer.
...I miss having the travel trailer. Life was lonely, but simple then.
Yup, the activity is invigorating and the fresh walls are soothing.
