9 days and a wake up till I leave to visit The Plant, a vertical farm in the old Union Station Stockyard in downtown Chicago. The delusion of grandeur which motivates the trip is, "Bio-remediation." At least, "Bio-remediation" is what I am calling it this season. Who knows what label will slither down my mental catwalk next season. . . What I am currently calling, "Bio-remediation" is that bizarre collection of observations and theories which have during my long herstory of PTSD flight. This particular set is on reclaiming the industrial blight centers our human progress has left all over the planet. Not all of them are urban. Some of them are more isolated than a mythical jungle city. All of them are more polluted than the drain between my dishwasher and garbage disposal. I have yet to produce fertilizer or car tires in my kitchen sink. . . Yet. . .
Most of the "Bio-remediation" field trips I have made started with pure flight mode. That frantic flight from clear and present danger. . . Once a safe spot has been secured, you are faced with long spans of time with nothing to do as you wait for the danger to pass. Abandoned buildings and watersheds were always my personal favorite flight destinations. Both offer a plethora of hiding spots. Both reflect the healing needs borne of human culture. Planning these field trips is fairly new to me. The later stages of the Katrina clean up (2006) were planned, but I was in flight mode from my husband when I first appeared in New Orleans. Planning these expeditions is still new to me, but . . . done a few.
My daughter-in-law and grandson are the biggest diff between this field trip and the countless others I have made over the decades. The divorce culture warnings are producing anxiety attacks out the yin yang. Don't mix family and business!!! MILs and DILs are natural enemies!!! The connection cannot handle the stress load of a road trip!!!! Yaddah to the blah and blah to the yaddah!!!
The excitement is building. . . Just praying to channel it constructively??

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Much support to you with the in-laws.

Just an item on the personal inventory?
Muji, it is possible I did see some of what you saw in Chicago. Some few years ago I made my last visit to Chi-town on a seminary road trip with my youngest son, though I think the seminary he was interested was in the University of Chicago eduplex, just west of the loop and a few miles north of the old Union Stockyard. Amazing how little that neighborhood has changed since I was a delinquent rail rat.
Thankfully, this time it is only one in-law. The daughter-in-law, textually known as, "The DIL." My youngest son's wife. I sometimes think we are in danger of building a functional relationship. Maybe. Inventory still accumulating. I am not sure our divorce culture I live in has the vernacular to describe a functional in-law relationship.
What you make of it is what matters, Arfie. Buzz peacefully....
