I’ve been gone over two months and the waves of thoughts and emotions have been brutal. One thing that resonates and lingers and won’t leave me alone is this sense that even still I can’t see straight when it comes to him. Now it’s permeated all my trauma. I’m not saying I’ve caused anyone else to do anything. I’m not responsible for the actions of anyone else. However, I am the common element in all these relationships. What is it about me that says.....or am I a terrible person? Am I dramatic? Sensitive? Crazy? I’m not looking for answers. None of you know me or my story. I am wondering if this is something others question so deeply as well..... I can’t shake it. It’s a more intense question every day this week. I’m questioning whether or not to go through with the divorce now. Not that I’d go back. I just wonder if there’s more I can do to work on the marriage. He’d have to be willing to actually work too and I can’t know if he would be honest or not. He hasn’t been in years. “I’m working on it.” “I’ve gotten better.” “I’ll do better, I promise.” Still I wonder if I did all I can do. I’m just really confused. Questioning my role in ALL the trauma is really shaking me.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Continued support while you sort your own, Marah. Functional relationships are complex equations, even when the relationship is *just* me, myself and I.
Don't know if that applies to you at all, but since you're questioning I thought I'd share the answers I got for me, just speaking for myself. It turned out that those answers have stood the test of time for many years since and laid my doubts about my own mental health to rest. There was a simple explanation for it all that had to do with my trauma recovery.
I agree with the others, counseling will definitely help you in many ways as you experience these emotions, and these thoughts. As a victim advocate, I've seen that abusers can be rehabilitated, although it's quite rare, majority of the time they were not rehabilitated, and even as an advocate I had to carry pepper spray, a stun gun, and a survival knife, the abusers stalked us advocates to try and find the confidential locations of our SANE nurses, shelters, and were there victims were (i.e. family members). This was when I was in my first marriage I did this job, miss it tbh.
The trauma is not your fault, you did not cause it, nor should you blame yourself. Some people can change, many cannot. I hope you find a way to work through this, have better days, and move forward in a positive, healing direction. My prayers are with you and I send you many big hugs!
