I didn't realize that I was as much of a trigger for my cousin as he is for me. He and I started working on not just building bridges but actually closing the gap that has been between us all our lives. I have been trying to make peace with the past but thus far it hasn't worked. I'm starting to think making peace with the people may be the key to healing. This is going to be a long road but opening line of communication is the first step and we've taken it. Wish me luck. It isn't going to be easy or painless.

personally, i think those itsy bitsy baby steps are best, whatever my condition. the big, heroic leaps spin out of control all too easily.
