I am moving to Massachusetts from Boise Idaho. The stress of all of this is causing a lot of ptsd stuff to act up and show its ugly head. I am not coping well. I just came back from Mass and have come to realize it is a very different kind of living. I pray everyday that God will help me through this before I just sit in the middle of the room and lose it.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Take care and share..Rules for coping.
Jewells.
I moved from Kansas City to the DC area a couple of years ago, and that was quite a jolt for me. Yours is bigger.
That said, I've never lived in Massachusetts, but would if the chance came up. Lived most places in the USA, but never lived in New England or the Pacific Northwest.
It's going to be stressful, so keep us posted. But there will be days of adventure, too, and hopefully more of those.
Good luck.
I moved just over a year ago. 3 times within a couple of months. I have worked hard to settle in, gather a support system, etc. There aren't the resources here as there were in the town that I'd originally moved from. I came from an oilboom town that turned chaotic quickly, and here its smaller and calmer, although little and 'clicky'.
Massachusetts... yup, pretty different from Idaho. Hopefully you can gather a support system quickly there (Dr. Etc)
This may turn out well for you. It can be exciting
You are right that God will help you through it, but losing the stress accumulations, etc., is up to you. There is an awful lot of stress baggage that goes with a change that big. Stress always stirs the PTSD pot... Good stuff to purge on a daily basis.
Gentle hugs. Keep sharing the load. You can do this.
seriously, I agree with our compatriots, share share and share some more. cuz we care. do spend extra time for yourself relaxing. do think of the adventures to be had. crying it out is okay to. its good for us to cry sometimes. recognizing the fact that moving is considered a major stress In peoples lives gives us a heads up to take extra precautions to minimize the negative affects of moving. a good thing to do is for your family to sit down and talk the stress out and how it will affect each of you. fear is a common denominator for the unknown. and sometimes those physical and emotional cues that fear from ptsd gives us can be merged with moving fears and contribute to flashbacks of similar situations were we felt fear. the bad past. give yourself extra extra time to reduce stress and ask for cooperation from others to help alleviate the feelings. will think positive thoughts for you.
No worries here about being judged for your son remaining out West as you move East. Life asks us to make some hard choices sometimes, doesnt it? Others here have made a few and said so. You can count on support here.
As far as making new friends in a new town, Ive gotten to where Im similar myself. I make friends more easily being introduced, too, nowadays. For me its like Im a little more at ease with myself and my PTSD as I get older. But a little more shy.
Im mindful of your saying here that you and your son have never been separated like this. So I imagine how that must feel. Keep us posted here, ok?
