I don't know what questions they will ask, but you should get in touch with the legal team as soon as possible and find out. It's stressful for sure. Knowing, though, will at least give you somewhat of a plan of action.

Thanks, I spoke with my department head. He has met with the university president and the legal team. He said that their assessment (besides it being frivolous) is that my inclusion in the document was another personal jab and has no relevance to the university’s decision to fire the guy. He said there is no reason for me to have to testify and they will protect me. Still I feel like I am going to vomit and my blood sugar won’t come down.

He sued the SCHOOL not you.

Thus this is about what the SCHOOL knew, or didn't know about all of the facts at the TIME OF HIS FIRING.

As such, your statements are already in the case file. I doubt that the school's legal department will even be willing to talk to you.

Digging up information about your past...is not relevant unless you have some history of PROVEN false accusations (which is a LOT different from losing some previous lawsuit).

On the remote chance that all of this goes to trial...it is remotely possible that you could be asked to testify, but it's going to be limited to what's relevant to the harrassment/firing. They can't go digging up your parking tickets or childhood.

More likely the guy is fishing for some cheap settlement that the school may be willing to give him to make this all go away. If he does get something, remember that his lawyers will get first cut, and it will probably be FAR less than he'd have gotten with unemployment.

The suit itself sounds to me like a "shot in the dark". If they knew about some specific behavior they would have mentioned it. Instead they used vague language.

The school will probably look in your employment file, see nothing and tell the guy to go take a walk.

I think you have been standing up for yourself and I think that takes a lot of bravery. I think you are changing your patterns and refusing to be a victim anymore. That takes strength. Bravery can still be really stressful though... I don't imagine soldiers who fought in a battle were without stress either.

You should be proud of yourself! Your kids as well will learn from you, and they will see how your strength allowed you to stand up, and be able to do the same for themselves!

Thing is, in all of the nonsense it's good to see your university prez say "there is no reason for me to have to testify and they will protect me. " There's hope this could turn into much ado about nothing for you, Kate. But in the meantime there's much ado for sure. We're here to support you through this.
