I've been back in the States for a week. I've been pretty heavily emotionally triggered throughout today (Monday) and I'm feeling trapped. I miss my friend from China that I was living with. I'm afraid I'll never find someone who can meet my needs the way she did. Will anyone else ever be as understand and helpful? Can anyone help me? I'm feeling alone and can't stop crying. I just want to be held, but there is no one who can do that now. My friend in China would hold me when I was being triggered. Sure, it sounds weird, but that's pretty much the first time someone met my need for physical touch. I'm feeling very untouched now. How can I get more healthy relationships like that one? Feeling so alone.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
can you think of any ways you can self nurture right now?
i am keeping you in my thoughts,XF.
Take Good Care.
Wish I had more than a cyber-shoulder to offer. I believe this one calls for a flesh and blood shoulder, but. . . I am offering what I have to offer at the moment. There is nothing trite or silly about the need for touch, however simple it is. Considerable research has been done on the human need for touch, starting from the very moment we are born. The need to breathe is simple, also.
When I first started using support groups in the 70's, AA/Alanon was pretty much all that was available. My aversion to touch was pretty close to absolute. Seeing all these strangers hug one another at the end of a meeting sent me into full, hysterical flight mode. Keep your slimey digits off my body, perv. One of my shrinks called that, "Attachment Disorder." The first rounds of accepting those hugs at the end of meetings were painful on more levels than I have words for, but they sure made a difference in my openness to healing.
Good luck convincing me there is anything silly about the need for flesh and blood hugs.
Gentlest of on-going support and prayers while you work through the transition, XF. Wishing you lots and lots of extra self-care and patience.

Then one day...I felt filled. And I basically never feel the "need" for a hug, and only rarely ever "a longing" for one. I guess I wasn't such a black whole after all...
In any case, my heart is sending out hugs to you. I have no advice on where to find it, but I try to give it when I can, Patti
I go back every year, and I often muse that my North America/South America emotional conflict is only in complete balance ever as the airplane I'm on crosses the Equator. Otherwise it tilts one way or the other.
We're here to help you decompress through this transition, XF. Your suffering is real, it's like when scuba divers get the bends when they surface from the deep. I know how painful it is. Lean on us, we can help you through. Much support to you.
