From today's "Courage to Change" reading:
I have come to realize that good has sometimes come as a result of "Bad" feelings. Anger has prompted some constructive changes in my life. Resentment has made me so uncomfortable that I've learned to pray for other people. Jealousy has taught me to keep my mouth shut when I know I will say only irrational, destructive things. And fear has been perhaps my greatest gift, because it forces me to make conscious contact with my Higher Power.
Now that the negative has become positive, I am better able to accept the whole picture. There is no more need to judge or hate myself just because I experience a human feeling.
Today's Reminder
Feelings may not be comfortable, but that doesn't make them bad. With a change of attitude, I have choices about what to do with my feelings. Anything can be used for good if I allow it. Recognizing this opportunity may take every ounce of imagination I have, but maybe that's why I was given imagination to begin with.
Just sharing.

Thanks for that. I've come to attach some value to bad feelings because of learning in therapy about how much dissociating I did with PTSD. Meditation helped me start processing bad feelings instead of just running from them or shutting them down. It's still a work in progress for me, but just speaking for myself, having a bad feeling is a step up from having none at all. So I'm trying to learn to listen to myself. Good one, arfie.

More and more I am believing that my feelings are a monitoring system. They alert me to surrounding conditions. No intellect or logic involved. Just alerts. The "bad" feelings might be kinda like a smoke alarm. They go off for burnt toast more often than real danger...

As I meditate on feelings as an alarm system, today I find myself wondering if my "good" alerts go off for candy and mind rot more often than they go off for things that are healthy.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
