Hi all. My husband and i have had such a bad fight this weekend. The aggression was built up to such a degree i have never felt so depressed. To worsen things my son had to watch this and I feel so guilty. It affects us so badly i dont want to get up the next day. This is not the first time this has happened. It leaves such a sour tastw in the family and it feels like it will be weeks before it gets mended. I hope i can get a good nights sleep. I go for councelling but it doesnt really help ita like im talking to the wall.

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

That is a future possibility. . . Too late for this go-round. For now. . . Hope healing happens here.
Welcome to the forum. Hope you find healing companionship here.
If your husbands upbringing was vastly different than yours, his opinion for him is what he considers right(mostly since it worked in the way he learned it). And yours for you is just as right, so the same reason, it worked in the way you learned it. But together there may be points where " We agree to just disagree" and make compromises for the best for your son.
It takes both of you to make this work. and rarely would we find a clone of ourselves interesting as a partner.
Hugs and support.

After 36 years of parenting and matrimony, I still need to remind myself to be patient with the process. Double so for the now middle-aged sons and their significant others who were scarred by parental domestic drama, both individual and combined. It remains a now multi-generational study on how to be hurt without giving up on love.
I don't get to change other people. Not even my husband or the middle-aged sons who are putting on similar shows for their children. When the domestic drama starts escalating around me, I work on my own piece of the family cycle.
But that is me. . .
Hugs and support while you sort your own, Ingi.

Hello ingi, you might just want to read up on NPD at a website called Web of Narcissism. The way you describe your feelings the energy and your H's dysfunction I think it would help if you got info on personality disorder. There used to be a group here but that the information you need to access is else where. The web site I suggest has tons of info so you can understand further what you need to do to help you and your son given H has not the ability to change. Looks like a reply above by miro states something about what can not change. One of the issues with personality disorder is that there is no change and defenses are hardened. That is a main difference from some one who is actually able to learn and self reflect and those people who are locked into seeing anything that does not mirror their illusion back as being stuck. Hope this helps. Peace
