My beloved and I have been huddled in our little desert cabin for 8 nights now. His health is looking vastly improved. We are declaring the retreat a success. This coming Wednesday is the surgery which will tell us if his bile duct has been successfully repaired or...
We are heading back to Austin in a few hours. Of course, not even the desert is free of electric shadows these days, but I am kinda dreading getting back to the Urban glare. The brighter the light, the deeper the shadows and I have some seriously bright neighbors... With electric lights, giving yourself the gift of enlightenment gives your neighbors the gift of glare punctuated shadows. Wish I wasn't dreading the return.
Onward through the luminescent eye jabs... Is it my imagination, or is our culture becoming less enlightened with every new bulb on the horizon?

My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart. Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. A full cartload to unload and put away. I got everything put away.Dumped purse for a...

My thoughts and prayers are with you going forward to the next round and surgery. Hugs
Yeah, the "deep thinkers" of my college years are pretty much the puddle-wallowers of my forties. The search for light within seems too often to lead to a need to shine it brightly on what lies outside... and then we're left with more and stranger pockets of shadows at times than "natural" light would allow.... did that make sense? If not?
Well, just know we're here. Supportive vibes.
If you get out where there is no electric light though, your eyes do adjust...eventually. I have visual snow, so the night looks like an old cathode-ray tv getting a little static.
Also Cetirizine is good stuff.
a mast cell stabilizer is good stuff( accolade or singular), the side-effect profile on those is really good. VERY unlikely to hurt him.
I also take HUGE doses of this stuff called quercetin. I use NOW brand quercetin with bromelain, and recommend at least 4 grams a day. Based on my own experience; you have to take a lot to get good results. But it really does work, and it's generally beneficial to the body as well.
I use over 10 grams a day currently...Allergy season starting in FEBRUARY is, like, scary. It started in mid-April here when I was a kid...but global climate change is a myth, right?
Please, God, let it be just this one more surgery. This is right at 3 solid months of "simple" procedures gone complex... The "Simple" for this procedure would be that the gastroenterologist(?) will get his micro-cams and tools in there to find a healed bile duct and be able to remove the stints without incident. After 3 months of this, I am losing my faith in medical "simplicities." Again...

Yea, it is deeply saddening to me that the deep thinkers of my early spiritual gatherings are just buying brighter bulbs and recorded drums these days... Sigh.
@Leo
Your natural light reach makes perfect sense to me, even though I have yet to find its words within the traditional light logics. It often amazes me what most folks call, "dark." A game I love to play as I walk in an electric night is, "Count the shadows." How many shadows can you find being cast by a single object? My record so far is 16, counted within a gated community where even the pets have their own security lights. Ever seen more than one shadow per object from natural lighting???? Not even the stars cast multiple shadows.
@blue
Yea, electric light sensitive folk are often at odds with night blind folk. I have run into that, ALLOT!!! Thankfully, my husband is another stargazer, so he is not among the night blind. It would crush me to face the dilemma with my beloved. Sure hope ya'll find a balance. In my own home/campsites, I keep flashlights and personal lanterns for the night blind folk I find worth the effort of knowing after sunset. Personally, I haven't met many of those, but the exceptions are worth the price of a personal lantern to keep their passages safe. The rest I just associate with during the sunlight hours.
But when I get out of a car, turn off the headlights, and proceed to walk in dog poo, trip over a bucket and smack my shin on the way to the front door, because the neighbor's security lights are * just * enough to throw the yard into impenetrable shadow...
Visions of a broken leg began not exactly dancing in my head.
Sigh. Repeat. It frequently amazes me what some folks call, "darkness."
May your appendages and shoes always be safe and clean.
Ah, yes, I have an acquaintance who loves to shine the megawatt brilliance into every orifice of everyone she encounters... Resulting in some horror-movie-esque effects, needless to say.
I went looking for the folder just before I diverted to babble here. Didn't find it my hard drive. I am guessing it is in the archives. Not too sure I want to go there. Maybe after the medical simplicities have simplified...
In my Church circles, I am pretty quick to suggest the evangelists take care to shine their light on the path instead of in people's eyes...
