I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Please be patient with me. I can be a bit thick sometimes...
Knock wood and through some salt over my shoulder... It has not happened to me in quite a few years. Maybe even decades. Score keeping is not my strong suit. I still do mild dissociation, but now it is more like tuning out. I can come back from with relative ease.
(I mean, we in here find it sure helps, but...)
Yes, I've dissociated. Sometimes, it's just that I've zoned out and kind of went to a happy place in my head. Well, not "happy" so much- just that I'd take my full self out of the situation so whatever was happening wouldn't really affect me.
I've also had rage fits where I didn't fully recall everything that happened. Kind of like being on auto pilot...
Some people don't believe repressed memories are real.
Like a Harvard Neuroscience professor who's teaching all his fricking students that. Never mind there's a lot of documented evidence to show that he's incorrect.
We know we're real, and several of my kids in here are feeling a bit invalidated ATM.
...Just to make perfectly clear to the OP and everyone we're not implying that.
Merely expressing that our collective nose was put slightly out of joint.

I think a lot of damage was done when a very high profile case was turned into a book and then it came out that the author/therapist manipulated the data for her financial gain. Kind of put the kibosh on the the whole dx.

I much prefer the DID label instead. I think many of us dissociate. But rather than making up full personalities, they are "just" altered states we carved for ourselves to cope. Not nearly as sexy as MPD, though.
There's also a great link I posted previously about false repressed memories. I'm not saying that most memories are false, just that it CAN happen, especially if the memories have to be coaxed out by hypnotherapy. It's one thing to have something trigger a repressed memory. But sometimes, well-meaning therapists lead the patient to create something that may never have happened. That's not to discredit people, though, who do remember things long buried in their psyches.
That's all I meant. Sorry if I came off as flippant.
I think the kind of extreme MPD stuff Hollywood churns out is BS, but that doesn't make it not real or not a problem, that's for sure.
I have no idea what I'm saying, sorry, just know I'm supporting you and hoping for your healing, CJP.
