I hate how my anxiety and ptsd has taken over my life, its mad because my attacks only happen in certain places, ie, i can go to work where i am constantly interacting with the public and i am fine, its like a super confidence comes over me and i feel normal, yet put me in a hall to watch one of my childrens concerts and i freak out, numerous times i have walked out in a state, a full on panic attack, it kills me to think i cant even sit like a normal parent and watch my children in their school plays, and family parties or nights out with my husband are a no go, does anyone else experience their anxiety in some places but not others? Then theres the ptsd side of it, my emotions, my anger, i went through a very violent relationship for years that nearly cost me and my children our lives, which has now left me scarred with ptsd, i now have a wonderful husband who loves me and my children unconditionally but my ptsd outbursts are pushing him away, i have tablets from the doctor but do not want to rely on them, theres an 18mth waiting list for a councillor so i am trying out these groups in the meantime. anyone else going through this? I feel like its neverending.

My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart. Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. A full cartload to unload and put away. I got everything put away.Dumped purse for a...

Yup, I go through similar. I am trying to kick the hate habit, but I don't think I'll ever get myself to love the on-going yuckery of ^it^. The good news is that ^it^ doesn't routinely derail my life the way it used to. Therapy has given me an arsenal of tools I can use to keep my life on track, sometimes even while I am navigating an episode.
Those waiting lists can be rough, but I have found that support groups help me hold steady while I wait it out. I share your mistrust of drugs/meds but I have benefited mightily from using them to get me through especially rough patches, like an 18 month waiting list. For sure, it's better than letting my condition push loved ones away.
You are not alone, Bashful. Yes, it feels like it is never-ending, but I get by with a little help from my peer support friends. Welcome to the forum.
I've had a couple of crisis points with my PTSD when I couldn't function, but I'm in a high functioning period with it right now. I teach, so I'm up in front of groups of people with my symptoms every day. Sometimes, my flashbacks or even a panic attack will sneak up on me in front of them still.
When I first came here to the forum, a member shared this link with me for tips for flashbacks. It's worked for me, so I figured I'd pass it on.

I would also have a plan if you're starting to feel angry..... Let your husband know that you want to have a safe place to go for times you're feeling triggered.... Go for a walk.... have a bubble bath, hang up a punching bag or go punch a pillow and take some time to calm down
People will only tolerate anger symptoms being directed at them for so long before they're done so if it's a while before you can get into a program for PTSD I would try and have some coping skills in place the best that you can
I know it's really hard.... Colouring can also help to calm down as it uses both sides of your brain...... Big hug and a blessing.....xo
